Last night @ work: charge nurse wouldn’t take pts when one of the nurses had 5. (She wouldn’t even take the sitter case w/no meds). I had a 3:1 who turned Q1hr. never once did she ask if any of us we were okay. She started at me whenever I walked past like I was always late.
A big part of trauma recovery is our little rituals.
In recovery we need to feel relatively safe & realistically in control-- & little, daily rituals & routines can help build up those feelings, day by day, bit by bit.
Predictability & autonomy are your allies in recovery.
I was talking to someone yesterday abt this and while I feel like TLOU is more inclusive than other post apocalyptic shows but it would be nice to see disabled people not only have the “dying role”.
Anyone who thinks disabled people shouldn't be present in post-apocalyptic stories because we'd be 'the first to die' has never spent time with disabled people.
A story about disabled people surviving during/after the apocalypse would be realistic AND ridiculously interesting.
To prepare for the storm, MPLS is:
⁃ Planning to declare a snow emergency on Wednesday
⁃ Opening thousands of covered parking spots
⁃ Switching to e-learning at @MPS_News schools
⁃ Getting snow crews out on streets 24/7
⁃ Clearing snow from alleyways
I have tweeted this more than once. But I will tweet it again because it’s so profane. Minneapolis prioritizes clearing Indigenous camps in the middle of a snow storm before it prioritizes snow removal from roads and walkways. You’re more likely to be removed if you have a pulse.
We have a snowstorm coming, and what does the Mayor of Minneapolis do instead of housing unhoused folks? He’s ensuring your cars are safe while our unhoused neighbors sleep outside without tents. He’s having MPD raid and attack Native organizers occupying the roof depot
Lactated ringers is not an acid and will not push you into acidosis. It’s “sodium lactate” and will increase ur blood volume and actually lower elevated lactic acid levels in the bloodstream. ✨
70% of people with chronic pain are women, yet 80% of chronic pain studies are conducted on men.
In the mean time, women are called hysterical, women are called weak, women are called crazy.
It’s time to center women, believe women, and address chronic pain.
@kare11 Many of those who get evicted from these camps are close to getting back on their feet. But they are forced to start over while they watch all their belongings get thrown away.
