Artist Mark Samsworth joins the ranks of those being evicted from @spikeisland
Like others his appeal has been summarily rejected. He has also been threatened with a gagging order. All the docs relating to this case are in the link in bio above

Jane Speedy, Professor Emeritus of Education at Bristol University, wrote in August to Robert Leckie, Director of @_SpikeIsland to express her concerns about the methodologies underlying the Spike Island Review Process.
To date she has received no acknowledgement or response.
@spikereviewed Wake up Bristol to what is going on at Spike Island. My partner is a founding member of Artspace / Spike Island. His name was one of the early ones to be pulled out of the hat for eviction. The unnecessary stress caused both to him and all close to him is cannot be measured.
Good to see the @_SpikeIsland Studio Review process being fully exposed in this ongoing @TestSpaceSpike project. This will be @TestSpaceSpike final show at Spike island, as for many others the current Director has made it impossible for them to continue there ... #shameonspike
Hard to stomach the so called independent @VisualArtsSW trumpeting massive new office at #spikeisland and looking forward to meeting "like-minded curators" there. Whatever happened to #diversity and #independence.
We are all on the edge of our seats waiting to see how Robert Leckie, Director of #spikeisland will respond to this stinging analysis of the 'fair and transparent' Studio Review process by an emeritus professor of Education... #spikereview#robertleckie#noevictions#artcouncil
Excellent! @testspacespike is calling on artists and everyone to post up their views on transparency in context of Spike Island's Reviews and Evictions.
Open Call!
In true Test Space style, we are opening up ‘Showdown’ to contributions.
If you’d like to add to works on the Test Space wall, either put them up yourself or drop them off at Spike Reception marked ‘Test Space Showdown’ and we’ll do the rest!

Solidarity with those resisting the eviction of the travellers' site on Glenfrome Road today, where an estimated 200-300 police and bailiffs are present.

So our Mayor @MarvinJRees is blaming gentrification on "the artistic community"?! And yet no mention of rent caps?! Housing prices?! Allowing private developers to let rip? The real root causes?! Cities thrive creatively and economically with supported artist communities...
@_JesseMeadows_@MarvinJRees And meanwhile he is turning a blind eye to the continuing artist evictions at Spike Island. Maybe if enough of them are kicked out house prices will go down??

George Ferguson, ex #BristolMayor, urges @_SpikeIsland Director and Trustees to stop Artist Evictions. George says: "I love Spike Island – please re-consider – and let’s work together to find new solutions.”
