LAGOS BLUE LINE EXPANSION: THREE NEW STATIONS TO OPEN BY FEBRUARY 2027
Lagos is set to expand its urban rail network, with three additional stations on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line scheduled to open to commuters by the end of February 2027, the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, has announced.
The new stations — FESTAC, Alakija and Trade Fair — will extend the reach of the Blue Line and increase the number of operational stations from five to eight, marking another significant milestone in Lagos State’s drive to deliver an integrated, efficient and world-class public transportation system.
Engr. Akinajo made the announcement in Lagos while speaking at the 2026 Media Parley organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation.
She said the planned opening of the three stations in the first quarter of 2027 would bring rail services closer to more residents, particularly commuters along the FESTAC–Alakija–Trade Fair corridor.
The expansion is expected to strengthen connectivity, improve access to mass transit and provide more residents with an alternative to road transportation, as Lagos continues to invest in modern transport infrastructure to meet the mobility needs of its growing population.
The Blue Line currently operates five stations: Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba and Mile 2. The addition of FESTAC, Alakija and Trade Fair will increase the operational network to eight stations, further advancing the development of the state's urban rail system.
Beyond the rail expansion, the LAMATA Managing Director disclosed that four Quality Bus Corridors (QBCs) are nearing completion, while construction work on the Marina and Mile 2 Interchange Hubs has recorded considerable progress.
The developments form part of Lagos State’s broader strategy to improve public transportation through an integrated network of rail, bus and interchange facilities, making journeys more seamless and improving connections between different transport modes.
The planned opening of the three Blue Line stations, alongside progress on the Quality Bus Corridors and Interchange Hubs, underscores the state government's commitment to expanding transport infrastructure, improving commuter experience and building a more efficient and sustainable urban mobility system.
With the new stations scheduled to come on stream in early 2027, the Blue Line expansion represents a major step towards bringing modern rail transportation within the reach of more Lagos residents.
“Before the bold and courageous decisions made by President Tinubu, we were almost at an economic precipice. Over N27 trillion ways and means was printed.
We were in a hole and digging deeper.
If we had continued in that trajectory, it would have been a total collapse.
President Tinubu could have also come in and start printing money.
What we’re witnessing today would have been a child’s play if those decisions were not made
Today we have a reserve that can sustain us for the next 10 to 11 months.
Our foreign reserve today is about 58 billion, the highest in almost two decades” — Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu state.

Today, I was pleased to formally sign the settlement agreements between the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Bi-Courtney Limited and Stabilini Visinoni Limited over the nearly 20-year disputes involving MM2 domestic airport and the uncompleted hotel and conference centre opposite the airport. I was joined by the Directors of the Ministry of Aviation, the MD of FAAN, the DG of the ICRC and other Ministry officials. Bi-Courtney Ltd was represented by its alter ego, Dr. Wale Babalakin and his team.
Under President Tinubu’s directive, some two years ago, I initiated and pursued a negotiated settlement with Dr. Wale
Babalakin. As members of the Inner Bar, we both brought all our legal knowledge to bear on so many of the complicated and seemingly intractable issues. We also carried along all members of our teams on both sides. Finally, we found a way out of the logjam.
The signing of the agreements today followed the approval granted by the Federal Executive Council on April 30th this year for the negotiated settlement to take place. It put an end to several claims and counterclaims that travelled all the way from the courts of first instance to the Supreme Court.
Among several immediate benefits is that the Federal Government, will for the first time in nearly 2 decades, begin to earn its own share of the revenue from MM2 and the facility can expand its operations to include regional flights (flights within Africa).
Demolitions and groundworks for the Green Line Metro serving the Lekki corridor should have started by now, so that at least, Phase 1A could be ready before May 2027, it was alleged to be very urgent by the Commitee.
This is a signature route connecting major entertainment, industrial and nightlife hubs.
The Phase 1A stations are expected in this order:
Lekki Phase 1 → Freedom Way → Jakande Market → Chevron → Ajah → Ogombo → Sangotedo.
Sangotedo would mark the current terminus of Phase 1A.
The project is also expected to feature U-shaped bridges and pedestrian skywalks around the stations to improve traffic flow and pedestrian access, complementing the electric rail system.
This could mean roughly seven to eight new flyovers along the Lekki–Epe corridor, potentially improving traffic flow and quality of life for motorists.
Hopefully, the VGC Bridge will also be completed alongside Phase 1A.
Together, these projects could significantly improve commuting across the area.

Yesterday, I was joined by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Aviation, the MD of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the engineering teams from both the Ministry and FAAN. We appraised and approved the design of the Lagos Airport monorail that would take commuters and the flying public from the Ikeja Railway Station (where the Lagos Redline terminates) to the terminal point at the new Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Terminal 1 that is now being reconstructed.
There would be 5 stations/stops along the way, namely, Ikeja Station, Domestic Airport Station, Beesam Station, Toll Gate Station and MMI Airport Station.
The monorail is an integral part of the reconstruction of the nation’s major gateway at the MMIA in Lagos.

So far this year, NAFDAC has seized fake or counterfeit products worth almost N25 billion in the Nigerian market. Toothpaste, body cream, capsules 💊, baby food, beverages and alcohol drinks, the list goes on and on.
While some Nigerians continue to criticise NAFDAC, SON and other agencies responsible for fighting this ‘terrorism’, a lot of our journalists, OAPs and media personalities have remained silent. Perhaps, because their audience would not want them to criticise the criminals and terrorists producing and distributing these fake drugs, fake drinks and counterfeit consumables.
If you fall into this category, your silence enables more pregnancy failures, cancer diagnosis, liver failures, and ultimately more death of Nigerians. Use your platform to call out this terrorism. Join the advocacy against fake drugs, fake drinks and other consumables.

NAFDAC Uncovers Suspected Counterfeit Alcoholic Drinks Factory in Aba
NAFDAC has uncovered a suspected counterfeit alcoholic drinks production facility at No. 25 Omenazu Street, Aba, Abia State.
Acting on credible intelligence, officials discovered the facility operating in unhygienic conditions. The suspected operator reportedly fled upon the team’s arrival, abandoning a vehicle in which counterfeit packaging materials bearing the names of Sir Edwards Scotch Whisky and Scottish Hills Whisky, empty bottles and a drum containing approximately 200 litres of liquid were found.
Inside the facility, officials found counterfeit packaging materials, bottle caps, sealing machines, empty bottles, cartons, tanks containing various liquid concoctions and dirty sieves reportedly used in the production process. Plastic buckets and 200-litre drums containing ethanol and tree bark immersed in ethanol were also discovered, raising serious concerns about the safety and quality of the products being produced.
The estimated value of the equipment, materials and facility components is over ₦500 million. The Agency urges members of the public to provide credible information on suspected illegal manufacturing activities to the NAFDAC Call Centre on 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322, or email [email protected].

As you go to your Catholic, Anglican, Deeper Life, Living Faith, RCCG or other Pentecostal Church this morning, I want you to know that if your parents or family members are involved in the production and distribution of fake drinks, fake drugs, and consumables, their end and yours will be disastrous because you all are cursed.
It might appear as though you are enjoying life right now from the profit of slowly killing Nigerian citizens via fake drugs, drinks and consumables, but your end will be unfortunate.
Your silence enables more pregnancy failures, cancer diagnosis, liver failures, and ultimately more death of Nigerians. Confront your parents, uncles and siblings today and tell them to STOP THEIR EVIL ‘BUSINESS.’ Else they will be caught and jailed!
