It genuinely amused me that people think replacing Starmer will make things better.
From Boris Johnson's election onwards, we've been shuffling the bollards on the Titanic.
You have to actually change direction if you want to avoid crashing into the iceberg:
- End Net Zero
- Make business viable again
- Get welfare under control
- Fund defence
- Ensure equality under the law
- Arrest criminals and keep them in jail
- Deport illegal immigrants and close the border
- Bring the civil service to heel
Burnham will become as unpopular as Starmer within months since he isn't going to do any of that.
@justdavenow89 I dunno. I think a lot of Brits admire him.
What has he actually done wrong?
He built his wealth through building things, companies, ideas, value.
He hasn’t stolen anything? People and institutions decided to buy shares in his companies?
@BladeoftheS Maybe he’s a skilled migrant?
Maybe he’s concerned about useless unskilled migrants that live off the state or those that want to do harm
Fair enough
@YoungJames34 Why? We get someone worse in?
More uncertainty. Spooked markets. More borrowing, higher taxes, higher inflation … high interest rates and bills
We. Are. Fucked.
@ScottishCommie They should complete their term. We need stability
The markets hate it.
Chopping and changing policies and decisions all the time is costing this county immensely
British politics for the past decade:
1. New Prime Minister arrives.
2. Same policies on immigration, economy, eco bs, crime as before.
3. Same civil service dysfunction & public discontents.
4. Forced out.
5. New Prime Minister arrives.
6. Repeat
Systematic change, not soap opera, is needed
