@acoyne Alberta gave most of its oil wealth away to rich mostly american barons unlike Norway. Instead of rectifying that for the bit of time oil as an industry has to go some blame Ottawa for Edmonton's poor decisions. Used to think it was FPTP that divides us. For some its just oil.

@guyjbreton @BradenMannsYYC Because its underfunded. Canada spends 7-8% of gdp on public healthcare. Europe between 10-12%. The 30% of healthcare that is private for profit eats up another 5% of Canada's gdp. And costs there are going up fast.

@TomPark1n This society tolerates 1 in 5 using the food bank. My bet is they want to test if 1 in 4 or higher will be tolerated... Pushing how tolerant people will suffer poverty is a long running exercise. We tolerated from 1 in 20 to 1 in 10 making minimum wage as well...

@globeandmail They will do and say anything to avoid taxing the rich. Most retirees have very modest pensions and benefits. And forcing people to work until 70, even in the face of massive job loss to AI and technology, only increases the already high rate of unemployment for younger people.
