@DescendingChime@Latterdaytruth Galatians 1:8 does not condemn “another testimony.” It condemns “another gospel.” A book can say “Jesus” all day, but if it teaches a different Christ than the apostles preached, it is not the same Gospel.
@redeemed_zoomer Zwingli denied the Real Presence, got dismantled by Luther over “This is my body,” then died at Kappel after Zurich’s blockade against the Catholic cantons backfired. Truly a saint for people allergic to sacraments.
@j_divis Calling the Trinity man-made from a LDS account is wild. Christians are defending the eternal Son revealed in Scripture, Mormonism is defending 1800s extra-biblical revelation.
Mormons were never Christian to begin with, putting Jesus in the name doesn’t change that.
Nicene Creed shows the Son as eternally begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; LDS theology makes Jesus and Lucifer spirit brothers under Heavenly Father. That’s not the same Christology.
@Mormonger 3 Nephi 11:27 says “the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one,” and Christ says, “I am in the Father, and the Father in me.”
Oh that’s not the Bible, ignore me~
@Catholic_bro They got Mormon right, but somehow left Jehovah’s Witnesses and Christian Scientists under Christian. Arianism got patched back onto the list with a fake mustache.
@Mormonger The LDS view makes Jesus and Satan spirit brothers, both children of Heavenly Father. Nicene Christian’s confesses the Son as eternally begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father. That’s why Christians say Mormonism uses Christian language but teaches a different Christ.
@YanagitaRon@CatholicDrip___ You’ve proven you’ll go to any length to defend your assertion, even when the evidence doesn’t follow. That’s sad.
I’ll pray for you.
@YanagitaRon@CatholicDrip___ No, you asserted it was bogus and then strutted around like a pigeon on a chessboard. All you do is assert, insult, and move the goalpost.
If the Eucharist evidence is “bogus,” address 1 Cor 10:16 and Ignatius directly. Don’t just declare victory and run back to insults.
Nice try. I already answered your “main question” with 1 Cor 10:16 (Paul: cup = participation in Christ’s blood, bread = participation in his body, not a symbol) and Ignatius of Antioch (~110 AD) calling the Eucharist the flesh of Christ and condemning deniers. You ignored both.
Now you’re claiming I deny the Eucharist and calling me anathema? That’s just a strawman.
The apostles didn’t use 21st-century Roman Rite rubrics, nobody claims that. But the substance (real presence under bishops in the Catholic Church) is right there in the first and second century. If you want to keep moving goalposts instead of addressing the evidence, just say so.
No Catholic teaches the priest “becomes Jesus” or “kills another Jesus.” That’s your invention. Catholic teaching is that the priest acts in persona Christi and the one sacrifice of Christ is made sacramentally present, not repeated.
So again: are you arguing against Catholicism, or against the version you made up so you could call it blasphemy?
@YanagitaRon@CatholicDrip___ Yes, it’s a sacrifice. No, it isn’t a new sacrifice. I already said this.
Hebrews refutes Christ being sacrificed again. It does not refute the once-for-all sacrifice being made present sacramentally. You’re arguing against “new sacrifice,” but Catholics don’t teach that.
@YanagitaRon@tcbales@CatholicDrip___ Not at all. But every time I answer, you change the demand. First it was “Catholicism didn’t exist,” then “prove one doctrine,” then “prove it exactly as practiced today.” Pick the claim and stay there.
@YanagitaRon@CatholicDrip___ “Liar” is not a quote. Identify the lie or admit you’re just mad I corrected your caricature. Same sacrifice made present. Not new sacrifice. Not re-crucifixion.
@YanagitaRon@tcbales@CatholicDrip___ The only thing I’m stumped about is your misplaced arrogance.
You’re very confident for someone who keeps changing the question every time it gets answered. Dunning Kruger in action~
