@mnolangray There’s no city anywhere in the world where short term rentals make up more than 1% of the housing but they are easy targets for NIMBYs and politicians trying to score virtue signaling points
@Bro2John@Boenau All early US looked almost entirely like European cities because they were based off of them. They were ruined mainly so car companies could make more but there’s no reason they couldn’t be changed back.

@mnolangray@TheAtlantic Constructions cost have spiraled so out of control in most major cities (where condos are in demand) they are only viable at the top 1 to 2% of the market. Even then the vast majority loose money.
@mnolangray@DPearsonPHL@TheAtlantic There’s no condition building of scale anywhere in the country that isn’t drowning in lawsuits the first 5 years of operation
@UrbanCourtyard We are seeing an explosion of seniors buying into Graduate Hospital in Philly. The challenge is there’s little to no housing being built. This is putting young families in competition with vastly wealthier buyers and rapidly impacting affordability.
@mister_rai_ous @CompletedStreet Having a retail use and a residential in the same building in a row home without a massive parking lot is illegal in all but a tiny tiny fraction of the US
@PEWilliams_ All tax polices is almost entirely vibes based at this point . Rent control has been debunked a million times and yet it gets brought up incessantly as some kind of magic bullet for housing affordability
