9 months after it was discovered that a superintendent of a large school district was not only a noncitizen with a final deportation order, but also had been illicitly registered to vote in Maryland, Ian Roberts has finally - and quietly - been removed from the active voter registration list in our state.

Ian Roberts is the perfect symbol of everything wrong with the Maryland State Board of Elections. A criminal illegal alien who hasn’t lived in Maryland in ten years was not only registered to vote — by lying about his citizenship on a sworn affidavit — but he was also automatically receiving mail-in ballots. It practically took an act of God to get him removed from the rolls.

The Board has sent a loud and clear message to illegitimate voters: it’s open season on Maryland’s elections. The Maryland Freedom Caucus offered the solution with our Secure the Vote Act of 2026, but it languished and died in committee. It is now incumbent upon Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, because the Maryland SBE refuses to clean up the hundreds or thousands of other Ian Roberts still lurking on our voter rolls.
