Mary Dowling, 86, is the widow of a soldier killed in action in Vietnam. She has regularly visited her husband’s grave at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for over five decades, holding fast to the U.S. Army’s promise that she would be buried next to him when she died.
At some point, the reservation was lost, and now her promised plot is occupied.
