@kristnmerrilees in her (relatively) new Substack PHONE TIME just published a nice piece on the internet, circa 2000. https://t.co/5FyfpzznsG Perhaps it's time someone addressed this information overload issue.
In the era of so many digital summaries, I think long form print still has a place too. Here’s an article that my daughter, @kristnmerrilees, just wrote which traces the history of print at Columbia University and Barnard College: https://t.co/fvKZlA4EPQ
I had read that Sam wasn't going to be on stage at WWDC, but I still thought that chatGPT would get higher billing than it did. Then again, compared to OpenAI's recent news coverage ...
Robert, I think part of your brilliance is how you connect the dots across disparate lines of thinking and technologies. As such the more you put yourself out there, the more dots there will to connect. I think your “pay off” is non linear. What is being pitched to you is a linear payoff imo.
The fact that people are speculating that there might be an announcement about Apple Pencil interfacing with the @Apple Vision Pro illustrates an important fact: it's difficult to anticipate all that Apple might do with AVP given its resources, design and development teams and capacity for innovation. No one was talking about the Pencil as an input device for AVP three months ago that I recall. What else is Apple potentially working on for AVP that might similarly catch us off guard?
2026 for AVP 2?? That feels like a big gap to me in between versions. So I looked up the time between the current Meta Quest 3 headset and the Quest 2. Almost exactly three years. Maybe the first version of AVP was the developer version after all. https://t.co/67kIAUtLR7
Leading edge vs bleeding. Innovation groups seem to be the ones who are most receptive to starting the pilot programs necessary to spread the word within a business or organization, secure funding, and socialize the idea of productivity from 3D apps, ie Spatial Computing. Apple will make this all easier as time goes on of course but for now efforts are best spent on those who already understand the 3D world but just want “more” than what Meta can provide.
Thanks, @tom_krikorian — also interesting to note that people are willing to rely on that same report more so than testimonials from folks who have actually have an AVP. I hopped into mine last night and shockingly it has all the same capabilities it had before the production #s rumor came out!
Funny how a single unofficial source can make everyone hate on the Vision Pro for engagement 😄 Let’s wait for WWDC before calling this headset « dead » 😅
