Kids’ books/comics/international literacy fancy-job-title-haver, maker of ancient paints & cookery. Chicago Manual of Style is my desert-island book list.
This Oni Press business actually got me to sign on and read Twitter again. (People know the Polarity dude is just the Lion Forge dude, right?) The terrific LF folks who moved over to Oni are hugely talented, and this is going to be some other company’s good luck to grab them up.
If I can just write one more line of dialogue, I can post the next SPQR Blues installment. I may be trying too hard to give it some sort of punch, when it just needs to be a sentence in the middle of a conversation.
Oh, and I posted one earlier this week, you know, whatevs.
@PencilearsArt @ArtMaranda @TheLandShakes I’m working on some new paints and new (old) pigments now that I can get—and not worry about using up—protective gear again. :)
Together Breakfast has an aroma of cinnamon & syrup but isn’t overly sweet. Plus, here’s my daily plug to save a historic building from being torn down: https://t.co/8IwIojlJpx. It’s one way to get your hands on some great teas & make future art historians & archaeologists happy.
I think @RoomtoRead underestimated how much I miss conventions and being on panels when they asked if maybe I’d be up for moderating one (YES, as a matter of fact, I would). I might need to update my pre-2020 headshot (it’s somewhere down the thread...).
Join @RoomtoRead next week along with thought leaders, authors and publishers to explore how books can bridge divides, amplify voices and remove barriers to build a more inclusive, unifying and empathetic world. Register today: https://t.co/es3Ali4Ktw
Black pigments for historical paintmaking project. In order of toxicity, a range from “it’s just burnt sticks” to “I mean, don’t lick it.” Danger Box is just for ones I wouldn’t want anyone to stumble on & sniff. Now I just need 10,000 grape seeds & a blowtorch #kiddingnotkidding
Today—Persephone’s Blend tea, part of save-the-gothic-building https://t.co/8IwIojlJpx. I opened it & I absolutely kid you not, a line of little ants turned & headed over to check it out (I moved it for everyone’s safety). I hope it’s ok to eat the fruity bits, bc I totally did.
@pencilears@TeaAndAbsinthe I love the fancy yog. But now I have approximately a thousand little lidless glass jars that I feel like I should do something creative with...
Starting my day w/Princess Peach tea & trying to remember not to drink the paint water instead. I wish this could show how amazing the tea smells—I’d wear this tea. It’s part of https://t.co/8IwIojDkh5 save-the-building fundraiser & may break my sugary coffeedrink habit for good.
Hey, Twitterverse. I’m helping with an At-Home Tea fundraiser to restore and save a gorgeous neo-Gothic church that does ~great~ work in the community, so I’m trying to spread the word. Donations get tea from the terrific @TeaAndAbsinthe—more info is here: https://t.co/8IwIojlJpx
Early in lockdown a friend phoned to say she’d found a tiny kitten in the middle of the city, the same time I was texting w/a friend who was thinking it was time to get a pet again. I’m a bit obsessed w/drawing this little critter—who’s now a huge critter abt to have his 1st bday
@CherylBelkin I un-rage-quit and dipped back in, and Twitter started sending me emails recommending “news” from oann.
But I do miss my Twitter addiction, I have to confess. I’ve been busy with the blocking and muting to see if it resets the algorithm of what Twitter puts in my notifications.
Came back to check out the twitters by all the wonderful clever folks I follow, and my “you might also like” rec list is a long scroll of white supremacists whining.
So, ok, I tried. I’m out of here. Somebody call me when the air isn’t choked with mewling farts.
@StephanieRuble It was a “[cool comics creator] tweeted” email; I clicked through to read it & below was the string of grotesque recommended tweets. All sorts of angry stuff.
Usually (always?) the ones in the notifications are ppl I actually follow. “See less often” doesn’t seem to do anything?
@StephanieRuble I prob shouldn’t rage-quit, since twitter helps me keep tabs on friends (❤️hi❤️)
First rec, I thot, “gross, I’ll mute that.” Second: “ugh, block.” Then dozens of horrible tweets. The algorithm already sticks too many recs in my notifications, but it used to be artists & authors.
