Tanzania 🇹🇿 has defended South Africa 🇿🇦 against allegations of xenophobia.

Tanzania’s High Commissioner in South Africa, James Bwana, confirmed that Tanzanian citizens are safe.

He said viral videos circulating online are old, misleading, or wrongly attributed, with no verified attacks on Tanzanians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs consulted community leaders across all nine provinces and reported no incidents.

Authorities have urged calm and caution to prevent unnecessary panic.

Dumelang, Molweni, Sanibonani, Goeie dag, Khaikhaisen , I greet you all in the spirit of our ancestors.

Today I speak not just as a friend , but as a human being with our history of this land a land first walked by the Khoi Khoi and the San.

They are our ancestors,grandfathers and grandmothers.

Long before borders, before pass laws, before the words “foreigner” and “local” divided us, the Khoi Khoi tended cattle on these plains, traded at the Cape, and taught us that the land is not owned, but shared. Their word "khaikhai" means “to unite, to gather.” That is the instruction they left us.

1. We share one ancestry, one soil genetic studies, history, and archaeology all tell the same truth, the Khoi and San are the oldest continuous populations in Southern Africa. From them descend many of us Xhosa, Zulu, Tswana, Sotho, Coloured communities, and others. When we fight each other over language, province, or passport, we fight our own blood. Our grandfather the Khoi Khoi did not ask if a man was Nguni or Sotho before sharing water. He asked if he was thirsty.

2. Division is a wound we inherited, not one we must keep colonialism and apartheid drew lines between people to rule us. They called the Khoi Khoi “Hottentots” and erased their names from maps. They taught us to see difference as danger. But we are free now. To continue those divisions tribe against tribe, South African against African is to let the chains of the past shackle our future. Our ancestors were almost wiped out because the people of this land were not united. We must not repeat that mistake.

3. Our challenges need one nation, not many factions.
Unemployment does not check your surname. Crime does not ask for your ID book. Poverty does not care if your great-grandfather was Khoi, Shona, or Dutch. These are South African problems and they need South African solutions all of us, together. When we burn a neighbor’s stall, we burn our own economy. When we insult a brother from Mozambique, Zimbabwe , Ghana we insult the memory of those who sheltered our exiles. The Khoi Khoi survived drought and war through cooperation, through "nau" the practice of sharing. That is how we will survive this era too.

4. Unity means dignity for the First Peoples and for all peoples.
True unity starts with recognizing the Khoi and San. Their languages, land claims, and cultures were nearly erased. Honoring them is not division it is healing the root so the whole tree can stand. From that root, we extend the same dignity to every person who lives here, the Venda grandmother, the Congolese teacher, the Afrikaans farmer, the Bangladeshi shopkeeper. The Constitution says South Africa belongs to all who live in it. That is not charity. That is the Khoi Khoi principle of "khaikhai" written into law.

5. A call to action in our ancestors name.
So I ask you, as children of this soil,
- Speak up when you hear hate in a taxi, in a shebeen, in your family. Remind them, we are one.
- Teach your children that the first word of our history is not “apartheid” but “welcome.” The Khoi Khoi traded with sailors from across the world. We have always been a nation of encounters.
- Demand better from leaders, not from your neighbor. Corruption, not migration, is what empties service delivery.

Khoi Khoi believed cattle multiply when they move together. A single cow alone is prey. A herd together is power.

South Africa, is that herd, from Cape Point to Musina, from the Kalahari to the Indian Ocean, let us move as one. Let the spirit of "khaikhai" rise again.
Let us unite, so that when our grandchildren tell this story, they will say: “When the land was hurting, the people remembered who they were, and they chose each other.”

The Nigerian community paid a special visit to the Palace of the Kingdom of AmaRharhabe (which covers parts of KuGompo City) to apologise for the misunderstanding with the local community and the installation of an Igbu King.

They brought three heifers as a token of goodwill, respect and apology.

Their apology was accepted.

The King (iKumkani Jonguxolo Sandile, Aa!! Vul’ ulwandle!!) has called on the community to accept them, live peacefully with fellow Africans, and move on.

A clear message was also delivered: drugs must not be sold to our people.

SOUTH AFRICA PROPOSES AGGRESSIVE CRYPTO CAPITAL CONTROLS AND PENALTIES

South Africa’s National Treasury releases draft regulations officially bringing all cryptocurrency transactions under strict capital control mandates.

The new framework requires explicit approval for cross-border transfers and mandates that all citizens formally declare foreign digital asset holdings.

Authorities now hold the power to block or forfeit assets for non-compliance, with violations carrying penalties of up to R1M and five-year prison sentences.

All transactions exceeding designated thresholds must now move exclusively through state-authorized service providers.

Assassination of Sammy Mpatlanyane. Another Silenced Voice in Mpumalanga’s 2010 World Cup Tender Scandals.

Samuel “Sammy” Mpatlanyane, aged 45 and serving as Head of Communications and spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, was assassinated in the early hours of 8 January 2010 at his home in Stonehenge, Mbombela. Gunmen entered his residence without forced entry, shot him multiple times while he slept in his second-floor bedroom, firing bullets into the headboard and left him with fatal chest and ribcage wounds. His body was later found on the balcony. A police-issued firearm was discovered near the scene, and the security alarm was activated only after the shooting. No valuables were taken, indicating a targeted hit rather than a robbery.

Mpatlanyane’s death occurred almost exactly one year after the assassination of Jimmy Mohlala, the Mbombela Local Municipality Speaker who was gunned down on 4 January 2009 outside his home in Kanyamazane. Mohlala had publicly exposed serious irregularities in the awarding of multimillion-rand tenders for the construction of the R1.2 billion Mbombela Stadium, a flagship venue for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He highlighted forged tax clearance certificates, irregular contracts, and misconduct involving municipal officials and the professional team linked to the project, including figures associated with Lefika Emerging Equity and Bobby Motaung. Mohlala was due to testify or lay charges when he was killed, in what many believe was a politically motivated silencing to protect lucrative tender interests.

Provincial MEC for Sports and Culture, Vusi Shongwe, explicitly linked the two murders, stating that the same “scavengers” responsible for Mohlala’s death had killed Mpatlanyane. Both men were reportedly on an expanding “hit list” initially of 11 names and growing to around 20, targeting politicians, officials, and even journalists who opposed or exposed corruption tied to World Cup-related contracts in the province.

Mpatlanyane had discovered that his own signature had been forged on documents authorising the release of millions of rands from his department’s budget. The questionable payments were connected to controversial tenders, notably a R20 million contract for the Mbombela 2010 fan park and funding for the musical production “Lion of the East” (intended to honour ANC activist Gert Sibande). He refused to overlook the irregularities or approve the irregular disbursements, directly obstructing powerful interests seeking quick access to public funds linked to the broader Mbombela Stadium and World Cup infrastructure ecosystem.

These killings formed part of Mpumalanga’s notorious “January Murders,” a cluster of political assassinations occurring in the same month across consecutive years. Other related cases briefly include:

James Nkambule (died 2010, suspected poisoning): An ANC politician and whistleblower who publicly alleged corruption in the stadium tender process and claimed knowledge of a hit list; he reportedly became the ninth local official to die suspiciously in roughly two years amid the scandals. Broader pattern: Suspicions of a hit squad operating in the province, with unproven affidavits from alleged contract killers naming co-conspirators and linking deaths to the protection of tender networks.

Despite arrests in both Mohlala’s and Mpatlanyane’s cases (including foreign nationals and police-linked suspects in the latter), no one has been convicted for ordering or carrying out the assassinations. The underlying fraud and corruption probes tied to the Mbombela Stadium tenders also largely collapsed or stalled amid docket issues and contradictory statements. Mpatlanyane’s widow, Pinky, has repeatedly called on former Premier (and later Deputy President) David Mabuza to fulfil promises to reveal the truth behind her husband’s murder...
