Have been working with some incredibly supportive people and schools to get SILSA training up and running since early 2020. Has been on the to-do list for about three years, but finally we've been able to launch a website too. Find out about it here: https://t.co/N0VC2tArtF
#toptiptuesday putting our #elfontheshelf to use helping a child learn about 'under'. Hide it under something different every day & talk about where it was "under the chair/table/blanket/bag..."
Tips for working on prepositions in the🧵below #SLCN#slpeeps#speechtherapyideas
A #toptiptuesday 🧵As Christmas approaches dig out those stockings early & use them when supporting children with #SLCN This stocking was filled with objects beginning with /sh/ to practise that sound (sheep, shark, shell, shapes...) Other ideas...

1/2 These simple, versatile & cheap slide in foam dice are today's #toptiptuesday So quick & easy to use - just slide in pictures (or written words) for what you are working on. Great for speech sound work e.g. slide in pictures beginning with /s/... #SLCN#speechtherapyideas
🧵on Aided Language Boards/Displays (ALBs/ALDs) - visual communication tools that use pictures/symbols for the vocab relating to a specific activity/topic on 1 page. Really helpful for children with language needs, including those new to English. #SLCN#speechtherapyideas
We think this poster for #DLDday by Siouxsie Webster is so beautiful. Please take a moment to find out about Developmental Language Disorder and simple strategies to make life easier for people with #DLD@RADLDcam
1/2 #toptiptuesday We like 'What's Wrong?' cards for language work but scenarios can be artificial & removed from the child's life/experiences. Use AI to create more relevant & 'real world' examples. Here's the age-old 'forgotten homework' problem 😟 #SLCN#speechtherapyideas
#toptiptuesday -a Kim's game for speech sounds. Collect objects with the target sound - here /p/ at the start of words. Talk about them with the child so they practise saying the words. Cover/hide the items & remove one -they need to say what's missing #SLCN#speechtherapyideas
1/3 Today's #toptiptuesday is the 🪄of 'I bet' & 'I wonder' when interacting with children who have #SLCN

🧵for this #toptiptuesday as it needs some explaining - but worth the read as it works so well. This a fun activity for consolidating a child's use of subjective (he/she/they) & possessive (his/her/their) pronouns but beware - there are thieves about! #SLCN#speechtherapyideas
Teachers can sometimes be the first person to identify students who struggle with speaking and listening. Let's learn more about DLD. It is the first step to provide the support these students need. @RADLDcam#DLDday
We are counting down---just one more month before DLD day on oct 18, 2024. Let's get our acts together to speak up for people with Developmental Language Disorder! @RADLDcam#DLDday
1/2 Today's #toptiptuesday is to be mindful of body language with children with #SLCN as they're often very aware of people's non verbal reactions e.g. if they stammer, their speech is tricky to understand, they find it hard to explain their thinking or follow instructions.
1/2 Our 2nd #toptiptuesday this school year. We love using objects like old toys in therapy. This is a football racetrack for a child who needs to practise saying words beginning with /f/. He had to give instructions to the footballer (see 2nd post...) #slcn#speechtherapyideas
