Trauma survivors in recovery don't need to be "saved"-- we need to be seen. We don't need to be "fixed"-- we need to be supported.
We don't want to be "coddled." We want to be empowered.
I've been seeing a lot of people talk about how autistic people have justice sensitivity & though this is true-ish, I think it's important people realize that we are sensitive to what WE THINK is just, not that we have some magical ability to discern what is objectively just.
Complex trauma survivors often feel paralyzed if we don't have an "escape hatch." If we feel we're trapped in a situation, we'll shut down-- but if we know we have a way out if we need it, we can often stick around another minute or two & keep trying.
