If your 11-year-old is behind right now, that gap isn't permanent.

Here's two years of proof:

Two years ago, Blake Brousseau threw 43 mph. 9 out of 10 eleven-year-olds threw harder than him.

6 months later ➡️ 54 mph, still below average for his age.
12 months in ➡️ 62 mph, top 20% for his age.
Last week ➡️ 72 mph. 94th percentile.

Kids naturally add velo as they grow. The average kid picks up about 9.5 mph between 11 and 13. If Blake had done nothing but get older, he'd be throwing 53 today.

Instead, he's throwing 72.

@Reds Lucas has been the biggest Geno fan since before he met him in 2019. He has always been a Reds fan, but his love for Geno has never wavered. Welcome back Geno!

"When you're chasing a dream or doing anything hard, you're meant to feel good 1/3 of the time, okay 1/3 of the time, and crappy 1/3 of the time.
If the ratio is roughly in that range, you're doing fine.
In those days [crappy days], you still show up.
It's doesn't mean you quit the goal.
It doesn't mean you freak out.
You live through it, because you're chasing a dream and doing something hard."

@Reds A perfect birthday! Check em all off!

@TaylorHoliday @devenmorgan They’re 10, so they can go to 75. But if they do they’d have a lighter load next outing, trying to keep under 120 in a 7 day span

@devenmorgan This week in Pitch Counts - This is how I manage our pitch counts with our LL players that also play travel. Created a file based on fangraphs bullpen pitcher usage, with grayed out rest requirement based on Pitch Smart

@devenmorgan With LL season in the north so short, we have 8 weeks in May/June for 14 games. That gives us 2 weeks to hold 4 preseason practices, and we get 2 practices in-season if there are no rainouts. How would you fix the schedule considering that LL requires a 12 game minimum season?
