@Blockerus3Paul@NUFC_Sean_@dave43law There was a need yes. Without an agreement in place, Gibraltar could have been in a pretty bad situation with respect to movement of goods and people (e.g. properly closed border like in the bad old days). The other stuff sounds like speculation; the Chief Minister is happy 🤷🏻♂️
@Blockerus3Paul@NUFC_Sean_@dave43law We’ve been negotiating the situation since the leave vote in 2016 (spanning multiple governments and PMs). Since 2020 (brexit) only an ‘interim agreement’ was in place, which could have broken down at any time.
@NUFC_Sean_@Blockerus3Paul@dave43law The soft border is because Gibraltar will be part of Schengen.
You keep saying Gibraltar has been ‘given away’; can you explain exactly what has been given away?
You’re also repeating this statement that Brits have to show their passports, when others don’t, which isn’t true.
Gibraltar’s economy and way of life was under threat.
We have secured a practical solution which safeguards sovereignty, jobs and growth.
Working in lockstep with @FabianPicardo we have ensured Gibraltar’s interests - as part of the UK family - are at the heart of this agreement.
