pels ❌ bill simmons thread: my annoyance with bill hellbent on pels relocation is that there’s never any local momentum to move the team. as much as gayle sucks, she has a real plan to ensure the team(s) never move after she dies/sells

@Blake_ramz they just spent $600M to renovate the superdome. all they need to do is increase concourse space and make more lower bowl seats. both those can be achieved for much cheaper at the current location
so every time a non pelicans team talks about relocation bill just screams “it shouldn’t be them, look at new orleans!” without any basis of evidence for the actual reason any team leaves a town

in a vacuum, would we “make the most sense to move”? sure. but teams don’t move just bc they’re bad. they move bc there’s an owner hell bent on making that team move (schultz in seattle, potentially dundon in portland) usually bc they don’t get public stadium money

genuinely disturbed by the Blazers relocation talk. I'm not from PDX but I lived there for many years, love it, know what a great basketball town it is, and just how much that team means to the city. Potentially losing them at the hands of *that* guy is a tough thought to stomach
