With our district’s first confirmed case of COVID-19 and many unknowns about this disease, @seattlesupt and our school board, have made the difficult, necessary decision to close schools starting tomorrow, March 12 for a minimum of 14 calendar days: https://t.co/6ID9U6GbCt
SPS cannot provide online distance learning in the event of a prolonged absence or school closure unless SPS can ensure that all students have equal access to learning. Seattle PS is the largest district in our state and many of our students do not have access to technology.
I do not believe we need to teach our students grit—they come to school with more of it than we know. Rather than rob them of it by lowering our expectations let’s ensure we help them recognize it in themselves and use it to achieve their dreams. #OurHighlineStory
Next week we hear from the incredible SPS Digital Learning Cohort teachers about their classroom successes.
