@DrSethPT @NickHoopes_ You’re right - this is government, this is how government works. The same reason none of us enjoy going to the DOT. Processes don’t make sense… makes me wonder why we keep trying to give them more to control. The government took control of funding education. Now here we are.

Slow the number of people maxing out borrowed money.

Slow the rate of universities getting paid without taking on any of the risk for overcharging.

We had to change when the housing market collapsed…

@NickHoopes_ @DrSethPT @NickHoopes and @DrSethPT I think the other piece not discussed here is the volume of individuals with loans. The gov is trying to save money… they want to reduce the number of people overspending on education. Guess what professions make the top 10.

@DrSethPT @NickHoopes_ The reality is we as a profession need to streamline our way to licensure. Stop chasing the medical model and take a look at what other professions are doing in more cost effective ways.

@DrSethPT @NickHoopes_ @DrSethPT I believe @NickHoopes_ actually has a stronger point. For >5 years the concern within our profession has centered around student debt. Debt created by the educational institutions who have been protected by guaranteed federal funding w/o limits.

@DrSethPT @NickHoopes_ In this time we have seen PT class sizes dble, hybrid options w/the same price tags etc. So if we are becoming more proficient why do we cont to see tuition rates increase? Throughout this process no one has talked about how the universities are a large part of the debt problem

@DrSethPT @dan_egidio @NoahKizzire No, most residency programs have seen a significant reduction in applications due to higher accessibility. I am an advocate for Res/Fellowship ed. but the research supporting residency ed. makes you ask if we are really just looking at a specific cohort of individuals.

@DrSethPT @dan_egidio @NoahKizzire @dan_egidio I think has a good point. Despite the 46% increase in ABPTRFE accredited programs since 2016 we see the needle of CAPTE graduates also completing ABPTRFE accredited residencies has essentially NOT MOVED over 10 years!
