๐NEW story from me:
Evangelist @Franklin_Graham pushed a domestic abuse victim to return to her husband.
He asked whether she was cheating on her husband.
โIt was a good question to ask,โ Graham told me. โI wouldโve asked it again.โ

After 8 years writing the tech column @washingtonpost, I am among folks who were laid off today. Iโm grateful for the stories I got to tell and the impact we made on privacy, sustainability & AI.
You can keep following my work on my new (free) Substack https://t.co/RJuwxbNik7
I was also laid off from @washingtonpost in today's cuts. I am incredibly proud of the work my colleagues and I did, including our unflinching coverage of the Gaza war -- which still hasn't ended for Palestinians there. Please, readers, support the journalism this world needs.
I was laid off today by The Washington Post.
Iโm proud of the work I have done at this place โ not just the award-winning work, but the stories that spurred change, that were steeped in this beautiful local community.

Iโm stunned and heartbroken. Iโve been laid off, along with so many dear colleagues. Making my way to The Post nine years ago felt like a dream come true.
I was so lucky to work at the @washingtonpost for more than a decade, alongside tenacious, world-class journalists. I know how deeply committed the staff is to the mission of holding power to account, and how much grit and bravery they bring to unearthing stories that would otherwise go untold. The loss of so many journalists is gutting for all of us who care about The Post and its long history of independent, rigorous reporting.
New from me, on the death of a Southern Baptist whistleblower as the annual convention opens in Dallas, "an annual meeting where abuse reform is dead in the water." With remembrances from @BethMooreLPM, @KSPrior and others: https://t.co/uc8X2FBJVk
Do people still check Twitter? If so, I have a piece for the @nytimes Book Review: Read more here about a new biography of an evangelist shrouded in scandal... and how she predates Trump's evangelical pastor friends.

My first obituary for the @nytimes โ
Paul Pressler, disgraced leader in the Southern Baptist Convention, has died at 94. Once revered, as many as seven men accused him of sex abuse

NEW: A conservative Christian nonprofit that controls a section of the Jersey Shore will reluctantly open its beach this Sunday morning for the first time in 155 years.
But the Ocean Grove organization intends to challenge an order from the state.

A $96 Million Hindu temple in Robbinsville, New Jersey, about 15 years in the making,ย is believed to be the largest in the Western Hemisphere and is expected to draw visitors from all over the world. Its construction has also been clouded in controversy. https://t.co/STh5oBKSBp
The reporting of abuse at Christian mega-camp Kanakuk has been shocking, but today @NancyAFrench reported that there has been no disciplinary action against any supervisors of a former camp director who prosecutors say may have abused 100s of children.
A Louisiana @kanakuk victim came forward today - after 20 years of believing he was the only victim of super predator Pete Newman.
Newman's now in prison for the rest of his life for child abuse with an estimated 'hundreds' of victims.
How did this happen?
A thread. /1
