They encouraged ethnic/racial pride in minorities; prioritizing minorities for positions, supporting programs to preserve minority cultural heritage & identity, fostered the creation of affinity groups, & promoted diversity, all while denigrating & demonizing the majority population as “Great Russian Chauvinists”; people tainted by moral defect by dint of their immutable characteristics & place in society. The result was division, resentment, & social chaos. Exclusion & isolation fractured society. After ending the Korenizatsiya movement, Stalin’s next move was to attempt to force everyone back together under the ideological umbrella of socialism. It was diversity of form, unity of thought.
