Thomas Jefferson buys a deck of cards and some beer.
It is thought that he wishes to celebrate the successful passage of the Declaration of Independence.
56 Americans signed the Declaration of Independence
17 lost everything they owned
12 had their houses burned to the ground
9 died in the war
5 were captured
Zero defected
Enjoy your fireworks
🇯🇵 Dear American friends, there’s something important I want to share from my heart.
I have never forgotten the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When people mock the atomic bombings, it breaks my heart thinking of the suffering my ancestors endured… It feels like my very existence is being denied.
But why should I hold hatred toward American families, children, and grandchildren living today?
Hatred only breeds more hatred.
We Japanese also launched the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. Talking only about the atomic bombs feels unfair.
With all that pain from the war still in our hearts, why hurt each other and distort our souls?
We have overcome those painful memories and built a beautiful bond through the US-Japan alliance. I believe it’s because we were able to share both our feelings and our wounds with each other.
During the Great East Japan Earthquake, I cried so many times seeing how you rushed to help us through Operation Tomodachi… I will never forget that support. 🥹
I truly love the American people with all my heart. You are my real friends. This feeling is genuine.
I want to cherish this Japan-US friendship and keep looking toward the future together. 🤝🇺🇸❤️
Continental Congress HAS SIGNED A DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE!
The UNITED STATES are OFFICIALLY INDEPENDENT from BRITAIN.
LIBERTY BELLS ring out throughout Philadelphia; the streets ERUPT IN ECSTASY.
🚨#BREAKING: A German soccer fan who flew to the USA but was fearful about coming because of news about criminals and people being mean...
...breaks down into TEARS, live on air saying he has FALLEN IN LOVE with America after a random man named "Bob" in Boston gave him a ride home after he was stuck at a game with no way back to his hotel
The German soccer fan's name is Sebastian, he said after meeting Bob, he extended his entire trip.
He said leaving America will hurt worse than watching Germany get knocked out of the World Cup.
"I fall in love with America. I'm sorry, it's just so emotional. Americans are not rude... if we are together, we can achieve great things."
THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!!!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Continental Congress has convened for the day at the Pennsylvania State House.
The doors are shut and the windows shaded to keep the sun out as much as possible - and to keep out eavesdroppers and spies.
The delegates are stifling on the stuffy inside and we, the public, are presently unaware of the machinations occuring within.
The Cubs are the second team in MLB history to win one game by 15+ runs but then lose their next game by 15+ runs.
The other was the Boston Beaneaters from September 10-11, 1894 - a 25-8 win followed by a 17-2 loss, both in Chicago against the Colts (the modern-day Cubs).
Ages of the Founding Fathers on July 4, 1776:
James Monroe, 18
Aaron Burr, 20
Alexander Hamilton, 21
James Madison, 25
Thomas Jefferson, 33
John Adams, 40
Age didn't matter. Education did. Classically educated founders built the greatest system of government in human history.
Man you just hate to see Australia lose after their fans spent weeks rooting against the USMNT for no apparent reason and celebrating our backups losing to Turkey in a meaningless game
If you ever feel like complaining about the heat just remember that the Continental Army under George Washington marched 75 miles in full wool uniforms over ten days in 100 degree weather before fighting the Battle of Monmouth.
American, remember who you are descended from.
