I believe, more than ever, Trump needs to be chided, insulted, and laughed at. His ability to let things go, is nil. We saw that this morning.
He's narcissistically battered, severely ill, and increasingly paranoid. He's consumed by rage, fear, malice, and impulsiveness inherent to his aberrant psychopathology. He's physically weakened by disease. His massive energy swings portend to increased medication to treat neurological diminishment. And his recalibration periods are longer.
He feels the sand exiting his hourglass.
He's distrusted and ineffective on the world stage, crazed by bad economic indicators at home, and panicky at the prospects of losing the midterms.
His math is 6th grade level - one grade above his vocabulary - as he keeps repeating idiocies. His myth is now being sustained only by gaslighting and puffery.
And when he is challenged, he comes off poorly. He is, like always, terrified of humiliation.
It's our collective obligation - Dems, Ind's, the media, business leaders, sane people - to challenge him more.
The election was not rigged - he lost.
America is not more respected under him, it's more reviled.
His war in Iran was strategically asinine. The deal he will be forced to make will be worse than Obama's.
Epstein is a massive cover-up.
His polls are in the toilet.
Celebs and artists want no part of him.
His name is toxic.
Nobody trusts him.
💯 And even if odds were higher that the military would defy a nuclear strike order by Trump, the fact remains that vesting a cognitively deteriorating, increasingly disinhibited, delusional, and decompensating narcissistic psychopath with nuclear codes is exceedingly perilous.
Hard to believe Spencer Pratt lost the election despite having no experience, being highly unpopular and running in a 4:1 democratic stronghold.
Makes no sense.
"I'm only doing this for one term. I am not a politician. I did not ever want to be a politician. I'm doing this because we need to do something now. We can't survive 32 more months of what we've seen for the past 16, full stop."
In addition to being a narcissist, sociopath, grifter, traitor, career criminal and sexual deviant, Trump has no caring for nor knowledge of basketball. I'd love to see a reporter ask him how many points does a team earn when they hit a three-point jump shot?
Total collapse at russia's Sochi airport. Thousands of passengers have been stuck there ever since Friday's drone attack.
What’s the matter? Is your own little war getting in the way of your travel plans? 😏
Please don't forget the Trump family is barred from ever running another charity in NY because they stole from a Children's Cancer Charity. A F**KING CHILDREN'S CANCER CHARITY!
Trump completely lost it on Kristen Welker.
He said she was crooked, stupid and walked out of the interview!
I stand with Kristen Welker and all of the journalists Trump has attacked over the years.
Who is with me? ✋
Dems should counter program Trump's 80th birthday celebration with performances by Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and Bad Bunny, have it emceed by Stephen Colbert, and name the event after Obama.
On his way out, he tells Wlker he gave her enough time, and he waddles off set, hobbled and hunched over. A striking scene of malice personified from a guy who is force-feeding a narrative, which doesn't go over because he's a spectacle, clearly aware he's in his final chapter.
Wow, what a meltdown! Trump - filled with rage and desperation, looking lumpy and ruddy, yells over Kristen Welker, calls her crooked and stupid, rails against the media, insists elections are crooked, cites no evidence, then angrily pulls off the mike and ends the interview.
Applebaum: Trump has two long-standing policy instincts: high tariffs and leaving NATO.
Bolton said Trump once told him before a European summit: “Today is the day we make history. We’re going to leave NATO.” People stopped him then. They may not next time. 6X
Applebaum: A second Trump term could mean competent civil servants replaced by absolute loyalists, deeper corruption, and federal power used against “enemies within”.
The Justice Department, FCC, IRS and other institutions turned into tools of pressure. 5/
Applebaum: Democracies usually do not fall now through coups or military takeovers.
They fall when legitimately elected leaders who do not respect institutions take them apart. Would Trump do that if he could? Yes, I think he would. 4/
Applebaum: I did not say Trump is Hitler or that he will cause a new Holocaust.
The threat is different: Trump assaulting and undermining institutions, judges, courts, bureaucrats, which is how most democracies fail today. 3/
Applebaum: American politics has been racist before. Americans have called each other traitors and unpatriotic.
But calling people insects, vermin or parasites is different, it is language used by regimes that treat enemies as less than human. 2/
