@McCainJack Plenty of people don’t like MMA, but most of them aren’t belligerently disrespectful about it or can at least have the conversation without sounding like this guy:
@McCainJack Being real with you here…..there’s a lot of “I boxed at Navy with other mids but have never been part of a real combat sports gym with actual people” energy in your posts on this topic.
You’re also the only one being disrespectful to other disciplines in this conversation.
Once again, both Lincoln and Ted’s Roosevelt would have loved this. Some other Presidents, not so much, But Lincoln would fucking love MMA. Dude liked to fight.
Good on Toporia’s brother for stopping it. So many examples in other combat sports of family members sending their fighter out to take unnecessary punishment. That’s a good brother. Caring more for Ilia than all of the fame, money, pride etc.
Big Hemingway fan, but I think Justin Gaethje is a more important and historically great American than any three people on this list put together.
And picking the only POTUS more lecherous than Trump or Clinton as your example of decorum is a great touch.
JFK once invited to dinner 49 Nobel laureates, Robert Frost, William Styron, Ernest Hemingway, James Baldwin, Katherine Anne Porter, John Dos Passos, James Farrell and Lionel and Diana Trilling, and others. His line on the occasion became famous: “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered together at the White House—with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone."
Some of you were alive when that happened.
#UFCWhiteHouse Official Result: Justin Gaethje (@Justin_Gaethje) defeats Ilia Topuria by TKO (corner stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 4.

@McCainJack@TheOneCA2021 I gotta hear more here.
You boxed, wrestled and hit people with sticks but find MMA ungentlemanly? is it kicks, submissions or joint locks that make you feel this way?
Isn’t the ability to tap the most gentlemanly, sporting, element of modern combat sports?
@McCainJack@TheOneCA2021 That’s fine, you do you. But specifically the safety concerns you dad brought up 30 years ago were just wrong, especially compared to boxing. We didn’t really know at the time, but the MMA rule set is much safer than boxing. The stoppages tonight are examples why.
Anyone asking the same question as Paul, watch the start of the walkout before they join up with the heroes. The Marines aren’t saluting until the MoH winner join the walk.
This is beyond ludicrous.
Why the hell are U.S. Marines and soldiers saluting a UFC fighter?
The military swears an oath to the Constitution, not celebrities, influencers, or the latest personality cult. Watching service members rendered as props for a UFC spectacle is beneath the dignity of the uniform and beneath the dignity of the country.
@McCainJack Your old man was a fucking hero and one of my favorite politicians, he was also totally wrong on MMA and was going to catch some strays tonight no matter what.
@dawn_roche9@DanFriedman81 It is bad to say, but, statistically, what you can get in the US more than in any other west country is a bullet in your body
You earn a more safety country
The Knicks players are easy to root for. They play hard. They care. Brunson is fantastic. They close out games. Well coached. Don’t make many mistakes. Congrats to them.
I I’ll never forgive people who voted for Trump. This is on them. The Lincoln Memorial is hallowed ground. Where our greatest president, who gave his life to end slavery, is commentated. Where the Gettysburg Address is written. We live as graffiti now.
There are low IQ dipshits in the comments who imagine this is some kind of a badge of honor.
Because they are irreparably stupid, allow me to help you: until this event, adversarial media like this had not mobilized before. This event has served as a catalyst for the kind of media that drive policy blowback on Capitol Hill, among a series of other harms.
Most of mainstream media missed the UFC-Trump connection in 2021-24. But they’re beginning to piece it together now and it’s because of this. It’s transforming the sport into a partisanship test, both for and against.
This event has served as a wake up call to media who missed what happened and polling shows hardened attitudes against UFC that didn’t exist before.
This is hard for the great unwashed to understand.
