When people think of grooming gangs, they instantly think of vulnerable white girls.

The reality is that vulnerable white girls were targeted on a horrific scale, but they were not the only victims.

Pakistani Muslim rape gangs have targeted girls from different ethnic and religious backgrounds, including Muslim girls. The difference is that some victims are less visible and less likely to come forward because of family pressure, community pressure, fear, shame, and the consequences of speaking out.

We know there are Muslim girls suffering abuse, exploitation, domestic violence, forced marriage, FGM, and so called honour based abuse. We know some victims never report what has happened to them. We know some are failed by the very systems that should protect them.

For too long, authorities have been afraid of difficult conversations. Fear of being accused of racism has sometimes overridden the duty to safeguard children. The result is that vulnerable girls from every background have fallen through the cracks.

If we are angry about the mass abuse of vulnerable white girls, then we must also be prepared to stand up for vulnerable Muslim girls. We cannot pick and choose which victims deserve our support.

Violence against women and girls is an epidemic. Every victim matters. Every child matters.

I will stand on my morals and say I will protect all women and girls, regardless of race, religion, or background.

Yesterday I made a post highlighting how some Restore supporters treat anyone who doesn’t worship at the altar of Rupert Lowe.

Well, it turns out this guy isn’t just throwing abuse at women online.

Apparently he’s been out in Makerfield canvassing on behalf of Restore.. knocking on doors and asking for people’s support.

I said I wouldn’t be giving Rupert any more money.

That was it. The response.. a crude implication that I’m a prostitute.

Just abuse because someone dared to disagree.
