A senior U.S. official said the memorandum of understanding with Iran has been signed digitally, with Trump and Vice President JD Vance signing for the U.S. and Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf for Tehran, according to Reuters and ABC News.

The official tells Reuters the deal provides for the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz and lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, with full details to be released within 24 to 48 hours. Technical talks are to begin later this week.

Release of Iran’s frozen funds and sanctions relief are tied to Iranian compliance, though the official said the U.S. “may do some small gestures at beginning.”

🔸 Military Posture
The U.S. plans to keep its current military posture through the next phase and consider drawing down forces only once a final deal is reached.

🔸 Shot at Oman:
In unusually blunt terms, the official trashed Oman, long a key U.S.-Iran intermediary, for its mediation before the war. “We felt they were very duplicitous and almost like employees of the Iranians in the way that they maneuvered,” the official said, per ABC’s Shannon Kingston. Just a day before the U.S. and Israel began striking Iran on February 28, Oman’s foreign minister Badr Albusaidi said on CBS that a historic deal was “within our reach” and reported “substantial” progress in the talks, which the US-Israeli strikes then cut short.
