Dungeons, Cards, and the Ever Dreaded Monetization Question
SWORDOKU's core gameplay loop is working, the 3D dungeon is coming together, and I'm having a blast building it. But figuring out how to keep the game free without making ads annoying has led to some pretty significant changes in how dungeons, stages, and upgrades work.

Clearing lines / quadrants result in attacks. clear wave after wave to reach the boss. RPG elements along the way, collecting new armor, weapons. sanctuary between levels provides equipment management, upgrades (permanent). playing through a level results in temporary bonuses, +20% power, etc. combat plays out in a 3d scene above the board.
Apparently I Started Another Game... Introducing SWORDOKU!
One of my best-selling Infinity Game Table games was Tetridoku, a simple puzzle game built around Tetris-style pieces and Sudoku-like clearing rules. Years ago, I had an idea to turn that concept into something much bigger, with RPG combat, dungeon crawling, and character progression. Naturally, I shelved it. Well, it's back, and this time it's called SWORDOKU: Grid & Glory.

@playonetwosheep less sudoku, more tetris / sudoku / block puzzle, pieces placed resulting in combat moves attacking enemies as you progress through a dungeon crawl. Basic rpg elements, equipment, power ups (temp and perm) and more.
@solmatter_ True enough.. debating the costs/abilities/usefulness of incorportating the ability to display post comments from various sites directly in my web editing environment.. https://t.co/NftIVHsQUa makes it easy for some things at least, like this reply!
Apparently You're Supposed to Build an Audience Too
After years of making games, I've finally made it easy to actually tell people about them. Social media is starting to pay off, merchandise requests are appearing, Steam is looking tempting, and apparently I need to remind Steam how old I am for the 80th time.

Gunpowder, Gold, Gameboards and General Chaos
A few days of being sick haven't stopped the project ideas. Coastal Glide is getting yet another revival as Gunpowder & Gold, a new digital tabletop is on the way, and the office renovation is still stuck somewhere between progress and complete disaster. At least the new display cabinets have lights!

Pirates, CLUNKs, Late Payments and Cat-astrophes
Another quarter, another round of waiting on Basic Fun! payments. Meanwhile, Gunpowder & Gold is taking shape, SCRAP: Fortune on the Frontier has officially entered development, and the office renovation suffered a cat-astrophic setback. Just another perfectly normal week at SquigglyFrog Studios.

Out With the Old, In With the Boxes
Another quiet development day, but the office renovation is finally moving forward. The new furniture has arrived, the old shelves are on their way out, and now comes the fun part: figuring out where everything goes while trying not to bury myself in cardboard.

Comments, Scheduling, AI Playgrounds, Old Pirates & Mules!
The website now supports comments and scheduled posts, I've been experimenting with AI-generated games, and thinking about Steam has me digging through old projects again. Including a pirate trading game I've started about ten times and never managed to finish. Apparently my backlog wasn't big enough.

@ericnofsinger Well, the map editor is for my use only and wont ever be shipped.. but the point is valid, even for the developer. If the tools aren't intuitive, it leads to issues and drops in productivity.
A Better Map Editor and Clearer Battles
A small Threefold update this time: the map editor has been rebuilt with more control over battlefield options, while some visual changes should make opposing forces much easierโฆ

Another New Toy... This Time in VR!
The office picked up another new toy: a Meta Quest 3 VR headset. Local stores were out of stock, but Amazon somehow managed to deliver one in just 24 minutes. Whether it becomes a gaming distraction or another development platform remains to be see

Because Battles Need Monsters
Threefold's battlefields just got a lot less predictable. Obstacles can now reshape the board, monsters can wander into the fight, and the Undead are giving our Paladins and Priests another reason to earn their keep.

Quiet Week, Expensive Plans
Not much development this week, but plenty of planning. The office upgrade is about to get underway, Threefold picked up a little more polish, and an old 34-inch monitor may finallyโฆ

@Joshua_WD Nope, Threefold is a standard unity game.. im debating on the future of my WoWCube dev, mostly due to the constraints. I thought it would be fun to dev for, and it is, until you hit limitations everywhere.. so im not sure yet..
A Little Bit of Everything
Website upgrades, business paperwork, a new printer, better AI, combat animations, souls leaving bodies, and a much-needed Threefold UI overhaul. Nothing huge happened this week โโฆ
