Aztec Network update

@aztecnetwork is a privacy focused L2 on Ethereum that enables developers to build applications where user data is private by default. Backed by a $100M Series B led by Andreessen Horowitz, the team introduced the “trustless client-side proving” standard, allowing users to prove data directly on their own devices.

In December 2025, the token sale was conducted fully on chain and more than half of the capital came from the community. The Ignition chain is now live on Ethereum mainnet and actively producing blocks, positioning Aztec as a truly decentralized privacy L2.

The team also created the PLONK proving system and the Noir programming language, both widely used across multiple zk ecosystems and becoming emerging standards for zk development.

The Alpha Network is planned to launch before the end of Q1 2026. The goal is to bring real-world privacy applications (finance, identity, social, etc.) on-chain and trigger a new wave of adoption.

Aztec is not a typical privacy L2
It enables private smart contracts by default
ZK proofs exist at the protocol level
No UX trade off between privacy and composability

Meaning:
Privacy for users, compliance-ready infrastructure for institutions.

In short, Aztec is not an L2 that adds privacy later it is a blockchain layer built around privacy as core infrastructure.
