Depression can look like:
• Avoiding mirrors.
• Letting laundry live on the chair.
• Rewatching the same show.
• Wanting to text back but not having the energy.
• Feeling guilty for existing.
It’s not dramatic.
It’s fucking heavy.
I absolutely HATE the idea of ‘well someone else has it worse’ like NO.
Your pain and trauma are completely valid despite what someone else went through..
People cry for help in so many ways. Acting out. Pushing people away. Mood swings. Substance abuse. Reckless behavior. And what do y’all do? Call them toxic. Cut them off. Talk shit about them.
saw a girl on here say she disassociated so hard she didn't remember half her life and i think i have what she has because i can only remember most of my memories if someone else brings them up. I cannot recall more than half my life.
A trigger I often see in trauma survivors is the way emotional inconsistency shakes their entire sense of safety. They're fine one moment, then spiralling the next. All it takes is a change in tone. A delayed reply. A shift in energy. It's not because they're dramatic. It's because inconsistency once meant danger. It meant betrayal. Or abandonment. Or punishment without warning.
“I’m not THAT traumatized!” meanwhile you perpetually feel like you’re on thin ice with everybody and that all it’ll take to be abandoned is one unintentional screw-up
Depression doesn’t always look like crying.
Sometimes it looks like:
Cancelling plans last minute.
Replying “I’m fine” automatically.
Struggling with basic tasks
Feeling disconnected from people you love.
Needing constant distraction just to get through the day.
This is depression too.
Be kind
