Delhi | In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court has ruled that the right to menstrual health and hygiene is part of the Right to Life guaranteed by Article 21 and the Right to Free and Compulsory Education guaranteed by Article 21 A of the Constitution.
Thus, it has directed that all schools in India, whether private or government, in both urban and rural areas, must provide free of cost biodegradable sanitary napkins of the highest safety and hygienic standards to girls.
A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan noted that all authorities shall also ensure the establishment of menstrual hygiene management facilities in schools.
The Court, in its ruling, also stated that directions with regard to the disposal of sanitary waste have also been issued by it, in its detailed judgement (yet to be uploaded on the website).
“Before parting with the issue, we want to say that this pronouncement is not just for stakeholders of the legal system. It is also meant for classrooms where girls hesitate to ask for help. It is for teachers who want to help but are not able to due to the lack of resources…Progress is measured by how we protect the vulnerable”, Justice Pardiwala observed before parting with the judgment.
Yes there are Ratha Yatras across globe and in all Jagannath Temples. But none can be compared or equated to that of Puri. This apology is just an eyewash.
This is absolutely BS! I understand when your wife is a RS-MP from TMC you need to do some propaganda for TMC, but don't do that at the cost of hurting deep rooted sentiments.
Since you want an ‘apology’ for mentioning Digha’s rath yatra in the same breath as Jagannath Dham in Puri, happy to give you one @sabyaactor . There is only one ORIGINAL Yatra in Puri and the rest are only taking a cue . But if you are a true devotee of Lord Jagannath and as am sure you are, you should be happy that the Lord Jagannath devotion is spreading far and wide, with Digha being the newest addition (which is why it makes news as a new ‘address’) . And while I apologise for hurting your sentiments (although personally I believe faith in the Lord doesn’t belong to any group or state or individual) , maybe you will also spare a thought for all the devotees who were injured during the rath yatra in Puri yday (more than 500). True religious and Odia pride should ensure far better crowd management next time! Sincere Apologies again for hurting your sentiments and that of other devotees. Puri will always be the ORIGINAL and MOST SACRED and IMPORTANT temple for devotees : Jai Jagannath!🙏
When you say 2 addresses you are automatically giving Dogha's ratha yatra a higher footing than all other non-puri yatras and then putting Dogha's yatra in the same pedastal as Puri. Mamta Banerjee didnthe same by naming Digha's temple as Jagannath dham.
Violation of ceasefire within hours proves that Pak military is not under pakistan's political dispensation.
The country is a rougue state being runned by a radical islamic militancy in which military and terrorists are in tandem.
As someone who was born in a non-odiya family in Odisha, and who has learned the language and feels pride on the history, language and culture of Odisha,I believe forcing people to learn a language is not the way to preserve and glorify a culture.
Will BJP's governance model and odiya asmita programme, force individuals to learn and speak in Odiya? Then what difference will be between BJP and parties like that of DMK in Tamil Nadu?
One thing the Naveen led BJD govt. had mastered in was crowd & disaster management. A state like Odisha which frequently faces floods, cyclones, etc., i m praying that the new BJP govt. doesn't faults in managing these natural calamities the way it has mismanaged RathYatra.
Puri Ratha Yatra faced stampede like situation yesterday. Many people were admitted to hospital after issues in breathing. One unfortunate death has also been reported. Reports of mismanagement while the chariots were pulled has also been reported.
Branding UP's voters as back-stabber is obnoxious. Just because u wanted UP to vote in the name of Mandir, doesn't mean the voter would keep his needs, aspirations, complaints frm the govt. aside while voting. The govt. should do course correction or b ready to loose UPelections.
4) After the crushing defeat of Rajeev Chandrashekhar and Smriti Irani, will they still be given portfolios and would be nominated in RS?
5) will Kishori Lal continue as MP, or will he resign, paving way for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to become MP from the family bastion?
3) who will be the 1st BJP CM in Odisha? Whether Baijant J Panda / Dharmendra Pradhan resign from MP ship and become the CM or whether BJP would find a new face?
Point to note, BJP party president in Odisha Manmohan Samal has been defeated in the Vidhan Sabha elections.
Will be interesting to see the following?
1) what portfolios are given to MPs of JDU and TDP?
2) Will Chandra Babu Naidu and Nitish Kumar be CMs or will they themselves move to cabinet as Dpt. CM?
Will the person, who has been in power for 10 years with thumping majority at his side, be able to massage egos of his allies who are very crucial for a stable govt.?
The so called "strong government" is not so strong anymore.
@BJP4India would require organisational changes.
INDI Alliance must now focus on state elections like that of Maharashtra. Form Government and present an alternative model of governance to the people of this country and gain confidence.

@INCIndia must utilise this vantage point to atleast try and adopt the Westminster parliamentary practice of having a shadow cabinet under the leadership of the LOP. Who will be the LOP is upto @INCIndia, whether RaGa / M. Kharge / some one else?
