✍️ The process of building a team is always fascinating to me, as there is a lot that happens which fans do not even consider. For us fans, it often seems as simple as buying good players and putting them in a formation to perform at a high level, but in reality, it is not that simple.

Players need to understand the coach's tactics, apply his principles, build chemistry, and learn how to solve different problems using the manager's approach.

For the manager, he must continuously correct every error, poor application, bad decision, and misinterpretation of his ideas, which continues until the players have learned.

Furthermore, a coach needs to understand the different characters in his team and keep blending the right group to achieve the best results.

It is easier for experienced teams to learn under a new manager because they have already gathered knowledge from facing various scenarios on the pitch, so the coach does not need to waste time on the basics or spend weeks correcting a single problem.

However, if you trust a manager's decision-making, you have to give him time to go through the process, make corrections, and weed out bad habits; you must believe in the manager and the process.

No team looks their best under a new manager in the first month, it is extremely rare. Teams always get better with more time in training and games.

Personal, I don't think we could've hired a better coach than Alonso, we just need to back and believe in him and his process and everything will fall in place. It's not rocket science. We just lack the patience to see out a process.

I think some of us - even me - got kidded that a new manager and some good signings could fix everything quickly.

It clearly couldn't. Even if we'd signed a midfielder there's still some bad habits, low confidence are still there under the surface. Can't fix those overnight.

They took the lead, our heads went down and we lost all our threat.

What we do have now though, is real experience and proper leaders with proper mentalities to get us through this, which we didn't have before. Henderson, Welbeck, Lacroix, Martinez.

This job is probably as big as the one Arteta had at Arsenal. I don't think it will take as long as it did there, but it will take time.

Xabi is an elite manager. Not saying he doesn't deserve criticism, but if fans are impatient and force him out, we'll lose our last chance to get back to the top for a long time.
