Martín Varsavsky dice que esa guerra ya empezó y se viene armando su propio refugio. Con cinco amigos compró Wamani, un campo de 32.000 hectáreas en Mendoza con una montaña de 5.000 metros, cuatro vertientes de deshielo y arroyos.

Si el mundo explota, vuelan hasta su pista privada, producen sus alimentos y viven con su nuestros recursos. Si además se cae internet, planean guardar modelos de inteligencia artificial en computadoras propias para armar una especie de red autónoma, refrigerada con nuestra agua.
Básicamente, están construyendo un pequeño país privado dentro de nuestro país.

Varsavsky tiene la mitad del campo y la otra mitad se reparte entre cinco empresarios argentinos y estadounidenses. La nota solamente identifica a dos. Uno es Alec Oxenford, embajador de Milei en Washington. El otro es Dan Lubetzky, multimillonario fundador de Kind. Los otros tres amigos siguen sin nombre.

Wamani se parece bastante al tipo de proyectos que impulsa Peter Thiel, con territorios privados, infraestructura propia y millonarios buscando quedar a salvo de las crisis que afectan al resto.

Y el agua no está de adorno en este tipo de proyectos. Los servidores producen calor y necesitan refrigeración, así que cuanto más crece la capacidad de cómputo, más importante se vuelve tener agua y energía cerca. En Wamani, las dos cosas quedan adentro del mismo campo.

Para estos tipos, la soberanía consiste en tener suficiente plata para comprarse una salida privada. Compran tierra, aseguran agua y energía, montan sus propios servidores y construyen una pista para escapar. El Estado queda para facilitarles la entrada con leyes más flexibles, beneficios y visas especiales.

El capítulo que frenamos eliminaba la barrera federal que impide a extranjeros comprar campos que contengan o sean ribereños de cuerpos de agua permanentes. En términos sencillos, hacía mucho más fácil que aparecieran nuevos Wamani con extranjeros.
