YOU CAN ENJOY YOUR CHICKEN DINNER.
This is why we need health reporters to have scientific temperament, have basic medical science paper reading skills, have the aptitude to ask right questions and provide a version of this news that informs rather than fearmonger.
This study claimed that weekly consumption of 300g and above of chicken meat was associated with increased risk of gastrointestinal cancers. This is not what the study actually said at all.
The study actually revealed that there are clinical researchers who are biased, who invest in poor methodology to drive their pre-conceived conclusions, are prejudiced and manipulate data using statistical torture to cherry pick outcomes they want to.
In under 2 weeks of peer review, leaving alone many important questions and variables that affect the outcome of this study, and without addressing major factors that promote cancer causation, the authors have published a study in a legit, substandard indexed journal called Nutrients to drive their prejudices against the meat eating community. Detailed alcohol use, physical activity, weight dynamics, genetics, family history of cancer, type of chicken meat (fried or boiled or grilled, processed or unprocessed) were left out intentionally.
The same authors group are well known to consistently publish studies on "benefits" of vegan/vegetarian diets and demonize meat eating communities.
Agreed, a "predominantly" plant based diet is metabolically healthier when compared to a "predominantly" meat (processed) based diet, but this outright generalization of 300g of chicken meat a week - calling it "cancer causing" is not just bad science, it's prejudiced manipulation of scientific data. It's garbage.

Yesterday, NEET (UG) 2024 results were declared and some of the details are emerging are cast aspersions.
Number of Candidates Registered: 2,406,079
Number of Candidates Present: 2,333,297
Now, the concerns:
The Indian government has issued executive orders requiring X to act on specific accounts and posts, subject to potential penalties including significant fines and imprisonment.ย
Inย compliance with the orders, we will withhold these accounts and posts in India alone; however, we disagree with these actions and maintain that freedom of expression should extend to these posts.
Consistent with our position, a writ appeal challenging the Indian government's blocking orders remains pending. We have also provided the impacted users with notice of these actions in accordance with our policies.
Due to legal restrictions, we are unable to publish the executive orders, but we believe that making them public is essential for transparency. This lack of disclosure can lead to a lack of accountability and arbitrary decision-making.
๐จScam Alert terms that you must know about๐จ
GUT HEALTH
Medical science has never conclusively defined this term. There is no consensus as to what a healthy or normal gut health is or gut microbiome is. Gut health is loosely used by wellness frauds to make a selling point. And is especially used by ill-informed, Insta-ready nutrition-sistas and bros and probiotic selling companies.
HOLISTIC
This term is most commonly used when the person/product has no idea about the disease or diagnosis or the treatment. They pack up their ignorance very subtly into this term that sell it to gullible people to [deceivingly] demonstrate that they know what they are doing, when they do not even know how they are supposed to do it and why the hell they are doing it for.
ROOT CAUSE
The alternative medicine practitioners favorite term. They use this when they do not know what the actual cause for the disease is, and especially in the context of chronic metabolic disorders such as diabetes or hypothyroidism or a chronic inflammatory condition like rheumatoid arthritis or brochial asthma which require long term treatments. They just put this term in the air to cover up for their understanding of disease and treatment and to mislead patients into believing that science-based medicine has no answers and hence no cure for certain conditions.
CHEMICAL DRUGS
Everthing is chemicals. Herbs contain 100s of 1000s of chemicals that can benefit or harm. A multiherbal product contains 100,000 chemicals which can interact inside the body in many different ways to potentially damage organs. Alternative medicine practitioners have no idea about what the active compound is or what it does or how safe it is, so they use this term to "demonize" standard prescription drugs.
ALLOPATHY
This is an obsolete and derogatory term used for centuries old crude 'heroic' medical practice that was prevelant 300-400 years ago. A term coined by Hahnemann, who invented the circus called Homeopathy to mislead people into thinking that Homeopathy is gentle and safe and everything else is strong and unsafe. Homeopathy is dangerous placebo and a reckless fraud. Unfortunately, scientific medicine has been given this term in bad faith by the public, media and regulatory bodies to misinform patients. Allopathy is what your ancient ancestors did and still died at the age of 18. It is not scientific medicine.
DETOX & CLEANSE
The human body has anatomical and physiological processes in place to detoxify and neutralize metabolic wastes. A bottle of herbal decoction or a herbal-oil enema or type of food or drink cannot perform the complex detoxification processes performed by lungs, skin, kidneys and liver. It is stupid to think so. Even stupider to buy such products or subject yourself to such practices. Leave your natural orifices alone.
FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE
Functional medicine is a marketing term designed to confuse patients, promote pseudoscience, and sow distrust in mainstream medicine (@jonathanstea). Functional medicine is a scam and a wellness-fraud. It is burdens the patient with massive investigations, increases financial burden and uses pseudoscientific practices along with poor quality or half-baked medical practice. A lot of it has to do with mixing up Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda, all well known pseudoscientific practices.
INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
"If you mix cow urine with apple juice, the cow urine does not get better, but the apple juice gets worse." Integrative medicine is the biggest quackery where pseudoscientific practices are used to fill gaps in medical care claiming better effectiveness when such benefits remain imaginary. For eg: Using Homeopathy to reduce side effects of chemotherapy or using Yoga along with aerobic exercise to improve diabetes or using Ayurvedic herbs to treat asthma along with standard medicines.
WESTERN MEDICINE
Medicine is medicine. It is accepted gloabally and has the same effect gloabally. Diabetes in India is same as Diabetes in USA. Tuberculosis in India is same as Tuberculosis in Africa. The treatments and approach to all diseases are same globally. There is no South-Western Medicine or Eastern Medicine just like there is no Eastern Physics or Northern Chemistry.

The only thing worse than Homeopathy?
Scientists on the internet without any knowledge on clinical medical practice, selling supplements that they endorse, using misinformation masquerading as "solid peer reviewed science."
Check this video out, when Huberman bullshits everyone in just half a minute on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast.
Before I go on, please remember this
The Bullshit Asymmetry Principle, also known as Brandoliniโs Law, states that the amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it. Which means, I have to put extra effort just to debunk the 36 seconds of that podcast.
First, a little about sleep disorders
Sleep disorders are of different types and due to different causes.
https://t.co/IRSteeDzt8
The diagnosis is simply not "I can't sleep" and so here, take this sleep cocktail. Many patients come with sleep disorders that are associated with other conditions.
For example, cirrhosis patients have sleep disorders that require management with ammonia lowering therapies and severe cases can only be reversed with a liver transplant. Patients with alcohol use disorders have sleep disorders that require management with de-addiction therapies along with sedatives. Sleep disorders in the ICU set up has different causes. People with mental health disorders have associated sleep disorders. Certain sleep disorders have no identifiable causes and are called "idiopathic."
Which means, coming on a podcast and blindly giving out a "sleep cocktail" to millions of viewers, who may be suffering from a sleep disorder which has an as yet unidentified cause, is one of the most foolish things one can do. And Huberman, not being an actual clinical doctor, makes that exact mistake.
Huberman claims (very generally and casually), melatonin helps you to go to sleep, but does not maintain sleep. But "solid peer reviewed" studies have much more to say about melatonin.
Melatonin improved sleep onset latency and total sleep time in children/adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders. Melatonin also improved and sleep onset latency and total sleep time in adults with delayed sleep phase disorder.
https://t.co/X7OQChIUNg
Treatment with melatonin has positive effects on sleep quality in adults with respiratory diseases, metabolic disorders, primary sleep disorders, not with mental disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and other diseases.
https://t.co/SIFveS3cyj
This meta-analysis demonstrated that melatonin decreases sleep onset latency, increases total sleep time and improves overall sleep quality.
https://t.co/sFy8VeIVwe
Another large meta-analysis showed that melatonin dosing and timing matters: for circadian phase advancement, an earlier time and smaller dose, but for sleep quality/consolidation a larger and later dose seemed appropriate.
See here: https://t.co/bAwI1MSuAG
So melatonin does increase total sleep time, total sleep quality and reduces time to sleep and has beneficial effects in specific groups of patients.
Now the "solid peer reviewed studies" on the cocktail - which Huberman claims on three supplements - magnesium threonate, apigenin and L-theanine. Unfortunately, such "solid peer-reviewed papers" DO NOT EXIST. Lets see.
Magnesium supplements:
First of all, there is no conclusive evidence that magnesium, dietary or supplemented has any actual effect on sleep. Randomized clinical trials showed an uncertain association between magnesium supplementation and sleep disorders.
See here: https://t.co/0nvphgDzr4
Forget sleep, magnesium has absolutely no evidence for involvement even in mood disorders.
See here: https://t.co/mZBO4tKjX0
This review confirms that the quality of literature is substandard for physicians to make well-informed recommendations on usage of oral magnesium for older adults with insomnia.
See here: https://t.co/tSerSlxaiF
Apigenin (from Chamomille):
The possible sleep inducing effects of apigenin is still speculative. There are absolutely no solid peer reviewed studies or evidence for benefits of apigenin in sleep as Huberman claims.
See here: https://t.co/r6qqjfcZYc
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial showed that chamomille DID NOT have conclusive effects on sleep.
See here: https://t.co/szuPnC3aRY
Even better, a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized trials and quasi-randomized trials showed that there was very little evidence to show effect of chamomille on insomnia.
See here: https://t.co/3EX2UMjKVV
L-theanine supplements:
There is absolutely NO study or data to suggest that L-theanine is useful for sleep induction, improving sleep quality or increasing total sleep time. The only studies that are of "better quality" shows that L-theanine "maybe" useful in reducing anxiety/ stress levels due to caffeine at night.
See here https://t.co/WUCUpG5o3Z and here https://t.co/BfTX8Slv40
The only other "study" on L-theanine which was done on mice and not humans showed effects only on brain related biomarkers and were not applicable in the clinical sense to humans - https://t.co/idlPdVG2ls
And coming to SOLID EVIDENCE on the "Huberman cocktail" - there is absolutely nothing in published literature to confirm that it works and there is no convincing mode of action of this cocktail in humans.
A large systematic review and meta-analysis showed that Cognitive-Behavior Therapy for Insomnia was the best and not some random supplements proclaimed on a podcast by half-baked scientists who are full time supplement sellers.
See here:
https://t.co/7GYyUrW2tn
There are basic scientists, with no or half-baked clinical practice knowledge, trying to sell you a bunch of useless supplements that they endorse for a paid-commission, using "science-sounding" words without any practical, rational or logical meaning; and push untested and unregulated therapies that are NEVER recommended, approved or promoted by any active, medical, scientific clinical societies worldwide.
They are worse than pseudoscience peddlers.
Be aware of where you find your health information. There is pseudoscience, but then there is also another terrible type of misinformation: BAD SCIENCE.

Some people asked me to share what I just shared in a space about the rate limits. I don't work for Twitter but, I do architect IT cloud solutions as my day job.
It is temporary. Twitter's rate limiting is not what everyone is thinking it is. It is not to punish non-paying users.
"Data scraping" is a big deal. This is where automated systems load the website or app and pull your tweets/data. It's a huge security issue. Automated systems are pulling every tweet/word/user account information to store in an unknown database somewhere else.
This could be state actors like China, the US Government, Australia, or other bad political actors like PAC's that are trying to gain access to everyone's information to analyze and use for nefarious things. Manipulating what is said on the site can be done at scale with data scrapping.
It could also be used to figure out the identity of Anons or to punish people in their country for what they tweet. Looking at you #Australia and #Canada and #UnitedKingdom
The temporary measures of limiting tweets is to protect users just as much as it is to protect the entire Twitter network from going down. They are currently scrambling to get ahead of this and tune their network security to block it from happening again.
It's also important to note that twitter has 500,000+ servers. That's not free. In cloud data centers, the companies that use them have to pay for what is called "ingress and egress" of data going "in and out" of the servers. A data scrapping event that is large enough for them to start limiting means that it was a MASSIVE event that could be considered an attack on the site. It would also put massive load on their servers and cost them so much money it could threaten the site's financial ability to keep running. It could be on purpose to put twitter out of business from cost alone.
Many people are misunderstanding why @elonmusk wants people to pay for twitter or for the twitter API (a programming interface that can pull data for other sites and apps).
The reason he wants people to pay is because if China or porn companies want to create massive bot farms of fake accounts, it is currently free. These bad actors are highly skilled and operate like a business. They have professional staff that continuously change their tactics and Twitter engineers have to fight 24/7 to stay ahead of them. If they have to pay for every account or pay to use the API, it would cost them A LOT of money. This limits the amount of people who could create bots, put automated porn on here, and the hacking/scrapping/DDOS attacks on the site. It protects you.
It also guarantees twitter will continue to exist without bloating it with tons of ads. This is all a part of the plan to create a free-speech place we can enjoy without being controlled by outside actors or advertising companies. I know $8 is a lot to some people but, it is for many reasons. None of the reasons are to hurt or punish people.
