Archaeological Museum in Halebidu, Karnataka is a treasure trove of Hoysala art. Located within the Hoysaleshwara Temple complex, it features three galleries - two of which are open-air. Its collection includes sculptures, friezes, lintels, door jambs, shikhara units, inscription pedestals, Jain sculptures, miniature figurines, gold coins, copper plates, marble and bronze works, and wooden carvings.
Most sculptures displayed in the open-air galleries were discovered in Halebidu itself. Notable pieces depict various forms of Shiva (such as Nataraja, Bhairava, Gajasamharamurti) and Vishnu (including Madhava, Keshava, Narasimha, and Krishna). Also on display are figures of Parvati, Saraswati, Ganesha, Skandha, Brahma, Madanikas, Yakshas, Yakshis, and Jain Tirthankaras. Interestingly, some sculptures bear inscriptions identifying the sculptors and architects, including names like Bekana, Bocha, Naba, Suma, Biraya, and Mallitamma.

The inner gallery showcases Hoysala sculptures and 17th-century wooden figures originally part of a ceremonial chariot from Belur. These include the ten avatars of Vishnu, along with Mahishasuramardhini, Kaliyadamana Krishna, and a dancing Ganesha. Bronze images of goddesses and copper plates from the Vijayanagara period are also featured, along with detailed representations of Parvati and Bhairava—both highlighting the refined artistry of the period.

Another major highlight is the large image of a Tirthankara in the garden, set against the Dorasamudra tank. Once broken, it has been carefully restored. The reserve collection holds many original site-sourced sculptures.
