It is not enough to leave your book or journal paper in an African university. The impact of the research on local communities is paramount.

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

0.67% was given to research in Nigeria. That's lower than the recommended 1% (UN)... we need smaller and frequent projects #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

African research has to determine it's focus. At its heart should be the development of the individual countries. #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

We need our own definition of research excellence... that reflects our own experiences; our own needs; our own history #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

African institutions ... we need to build up our own research and knowledge networks rather than trying to join the wests #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

Politics surrounding African research publication is a mark of the colonisation of academia on the continent. #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

Africa is missing from research with only 150 researchers per million. Compared to 4000 per million in USA #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

"An effective structural transformation means... the transformation of Africa's youth bulge into a demographic dividend" #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

American university in Nigeria speaking truth at #LSEAfricaSummit despite the name, sounds like the ethos is truly African #rhodesmustfall

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

"The model of knowledge for the sake of knowledge is still being used in Africa" #LSEAfricaSummit

[SREN Africa @SRENatWork]

Finally governments are starting to see the need for research led decision making in Africa! #LSEAfricaSummit
