I did my BA in a clg that didn't have student politics. It had diff curfews for men (10:30 pm) and women (6:30pm), teachers made a scene when ppl held hands, and one of my teachers actually thought that therapy could 'cure' queerness! Precisely why we NEED #politics EVERYWHERE!

It was my birthday recently and for the first time, my grandfather wasn't there. What was there, however, was his SSLC book! I learnt that the young republic didn't really think he was Indian, his nationality was #Malayali. The dates are in 2 calendars: #Kollvarasham and Georgian

What appears as ironic parody is in fact a telling metaphor of how military and market cultures intersect. Drawing on Absolut’s transformation from a Swedish brand to a global symbol of liberal, Western modernity, the exhibit highlights how alcohol functions not merely as indulgence but as an instrument of leisure and morale in warfare. By linking a commercial icon with peacekeeping, it invites reflection on the everyday dimensions of conflict and the subtle ways culture and power intertwine.

I mean the closest I have come to calling my parents' cousins anything other than uncle/aunt is 'Chechi', which, in Malayalam, translates to an elder sibling (but is used for ppl elder than you – related or not). That too cuz she's the youngest of my father's first cousins!
