Today marks the 93rd death anniversary of revolutionary socialist leader Clara Zetkin (1857–1933). Clara Zetkin was one of the most influential leaders of the labour movement in Germany and a member of the radical wing of the Social Democratic Party, one of the founding members of the Spartacist League and, later, the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), and a member of the executive committee of the Communist International. As one of the leaders of the proletarian women's movement and a theorist of women's liberation, she challenged the oppression of women under capitalism and was a proponent of advancing the rights of working women through the movement for socialism. She was one of the leading advocates of women's suffrage and moved the historic resolution proposing the annual observance of International Women's Day at the Second International Socialist Women's Conference in August 1910.
Clara Zetkin represented the KPD in the Reichstag from 1920 to 1933. She died in exile in the USSR soon after the Nazis captured power in Germany. Just months earlier, she had opened the parliamentary session of the Reichstag as its oldest member with a 40-minute attack on Hitler and the Nazi Party.
Red Salute, Comrade!
The Democratic Republic of Congo,a country that lost over 6 million people in a quarter-century of genocidal massacres by the imperialists, mocked in comics, stuck in visa embargo, has now turned the tables.
Today, that same Congo has blocked Portugal, a European football giant.
At the height of the American war in Vietnam, India renamed Harrington Street outside the US Consulate in Kolkata as Ho Chi Minh Sarani, in honour of the great anti-imperialist leader. Now, at a time when the belligerent United States is in the midst of a war against Iran, a genocide in Gaza, military intervention in Venezuela, and a criminal stranglehold on Cuba, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is renaming the road adjoining the US Consulate in Hyderabad to honour Donald Trump, the present face of the imperialist war on humanity, a man who aspires to be the Hitler of our time.
Just days ago, the US Navy attacked an unarmed commercial ship and killed three Indian sailors. Even as the US government has threatened to continue its attacks, the Indian government has failed to register a proper protest against the dastardly missile strike, and Modi has refused to comment on the matter. The BJP has no qualms about surrendering India's sovereignty and self-respect, and now it seems that neither does the Congress government in Telangana.
We expect that the Congress High Command will take note of this outrageous move and intervene to make sure that it is withdrawn. Claims of carrying on the ideals of our anti-imperialist resistance movement must not be limited to words.

A moment of pride and honor as the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran made its majestic entrance onto the world stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Not Telegram—Suspend Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan! Disband the corrupt NTA, the source of recurring paper leaks!
The problem isn't Telegram. The problem is the repeated failure of the education system under the minister's watch and the incompetence and corruption of the NTA. Millions of students are paying the price for this institutional failure.
Yet the Modi government is busy beating around the bush—talking about Air Force planes to transport question papers and searching for technological fixes while refusing to hold those responsible accountable.

The first woman in space wasn’t a billionaire.
She was a Soviet textile worker.
The Soviet Union looked at a factory worker and saw a future cosmonaut.
The world got Valentina Tereshkova.
Deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of writer, publisher and entrepreneur Indira Lankesh. She was not only the pillar behind the literary and journalistic career of P Lankesh and the success of Lankesh Patrike, but was also an accomplished writer and social critic in her own right.
Heartfelt condolences to her family and friends during this difficult time. She spent the last nine years fighting for justice for her daughter, the slain martyr Gauri Lankesh, while battling cancer herself. It is a travesty that the trial of Gauri Lankesh's murderers has made little progress after all these years. We owe it to Indira to make sure that the fanatics behind the assassination of her daughter are brought to book.
VIDEO | Kerala: On Rahul Gandhi's remark that he would not hug Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat says, "Keep your hugs to yourself. We are fighting BJP's misuse of central agencies against Opposition leaders."
Thiruvananthapuram: Former Keralam CM and LoP Pinarayi Vijayan says, "What position did the UDF government take regarding the approach adopted by the Governor in appointing a temporary Vice Chancellor at MG University? A leader of a Sangh Parivar-affiliated teachers organisation was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of MG University. Ordinarily, this is something that should have been opposed. However, no such opposition came from the government. 19 Parivar members have been included in the university Senate. In such a situation, it is the responsibility of the government in power to express its opinion and oppose such actions. Yet neither the government nor the UDF political leadership was prepared to do so. The Higher Education Minister has publicly stated that there will be no confrontation of any kind with the Governor. The Governor's position is one that serves the interests of the RSS. What has been seen from the UDF government is complete surrender before the RSS position. In this context, the reply given by the Chief Minister is extremely misleading. The Governor's intervention in universities began only after the BJP government came to power at the Centre."
