📰 || 251127 A US court orders the identity of the person spreading malicious rumors about SEVENTEEN to be revealed
A U.S. federal court has accepted a request from all 13 members of the group SEVENTEEN and their agency, HYBE, to obtain the identities of those who spread malicious posts. This decision will force X (formerly Twitter) and Google to hand over the personal information of the account users to HYBE for the purpose of an ongoing defamation lawsuit in a Korean court.
On the 25th (local time), the United States District Court for the Northern District of California ruled in favor of the discovery request filed by HYBE and SEVENTEEN members under Title 28, Section 1782 of the United States Code. This case is expected to be recorded as a representative example of a group tracking down anonymous users through US legal procedures, rather than individual artists responding.
According to the ruling, the target of this legal action is the anonymous account of X on social media. The user of the account in question continuously spread "misogynistic remarks" and "false facts about inappropriate relationships and behaviors" targeting the members of SEVENTEEN from around March of last year until December 29th. The applicant’s side claimed that the account in question used insulting and derogatory expressions toward all members and caused serious damage to the artists and their agency.
Accordingly, 13 members of SEVENTEEN filed a civil lawsuit for defamation and harassment against the anonymous user at the Seoul Central District Court on May 22nd. However, since the defendant was hiding behind an anonymous account, their identity needed to be identified in order to proceed with the lawsuit. Accordingly, HYBE applied for discovery of evidence to a U.S. court.
On this day, the court ruled that the scope of information requested by HYBE was clear and justified. According to the subpoena approved by the court, X and Google must submit ▲all account identification information (name, nickname, creation date, date of birth, email, contact information, etc.) ▲at least the last 10 access logs and time zone information of the timestamps ▲the name of the credit card or bank account registered to the account, billing address, phone number, etc.
Considering the administrative burden on platform companies, the court set the deadline for submission of documents at 45 days from the date of service of the subpoena. Accordingly, HYBE is expected to secure the identity of the perpetrator of the malicious rumor as early as early 2026 and proceed with the main lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court.

📰 || 251126 SEVENTEEN meets The Smurfs, Characters appear in large numbers in the special music video for 'God of Music'
Group SEVENTEEN and the globally popular character Smurfs have met.
Peyo Company, which holds the copyright to The Smurfs, released the music video for 'God of Music' featuring SEVENTEEN and The Smurfs on the afternoon of November 25th. The video features popular characters from The Smurfs animation along with new characters inspired by SEVENTEEN's personalities in the original music video.
The harmony between the 'SEVENTEEN Festival' set in Budapest, Hungary, and the iconic Smurf characters stands out. The journey of Papa Smurf, Smurfette, and Clumsy, who follow the members, further emphasizes the song's message of a world connected by music. The scene where the three characters perform the 'God of Music' choreography with SEVENTEEN is particularly heartwarming, bringing a heartwarming smile to the viewers.
The video concludes with a captivating appearance of a new cast of Smurf characters themed after SEVENTEEN. They arrive in the Smurf Village via a portal, reviving the fading sounds of music and continuing the joyous celebration. From Cherry (S.COUPS) to Dino (DINO), the individual personalities of each of the 13 members are fully expressed in their characters, adding to the fun of watching.
This music video was planned with the idea that 'God of Music' and the Smurfs' birthday coincided on October 23rd, and that both content demonstrates the value of coexistence. A collaborative product between SEVENTEEN and the Smurfs will also be released in 2026.
"This collaboration is built on the core values of joy and friendship, which is also the Smurfs' vision to bring more laughter, joy, and harmony to the world," said Véronique Culliford, CEO of Peyo Company and daughter of Smurf creator Peyo (a pen name). "My father Peyo would have been proud of his collaboration with SEVENTEEN."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is showing off their immense global popularity by recently creating their 17th song to surpass 100 million streams on Spotify. As of the 25th, their song 'To you' from their *9th Mini Album* released in 2021 has recorded 191,233 cumulative streams. The members will be holding the 'SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN JAPAN' starting on the 27th, touring Japan's 4 major domes.
