Not only is Dr Stephanie Craig graduating today with a #PhD in #Nursing, but thanks to her, nursing students at Queen’s will now receive dedicated training on #DomesticAbuse and #ViolenceAgainstWomenAndGirls as part of their degree.
“For me, education isn’t just about textbooks and exams. It’s about creating a safer, more informed #NorthernIreland where people feel seen, supported and empowered.
“This is a topic that too often goes undiscussed in formal #Healthcare training, and our initiative seeks to change that. We’ve been able to align our work with the wider Violence Against Women and Girls strategy.
“Standing at #Stormont alongside First Minister @moneillsf, Deputy First Minister @little_pengelly, and @healthdpt Minister @mikenesbittni during the official launch was a surreal and powerful moment. To have the support of political and sector leaders reinforces the urgency and importance of this work.
“The momentum behind my journey from BSc to PhD to lecturer has always been rooted in a passion for improving #PatientCare, especially in areas that are often underrepresented in #HealthcareEducation.
“I’m committed to creating educational experiences that not only convey knowledge but also instil compassion, critical thinking, and the courage to question the status quo just as my mentors did for me.
“What stays with people, what changes lives, is how we make them feel – whether it’s sitting beside a patient during their most vulnerable moment, supporting a student who’s struggling, or collaborating with colleagues on a complex issue.
“Looking ahead, I’m committed to developing research that doesn’t just sit on shelves, but actively informs policy, improves practice, and ultimately makes life better for #Patients and professionals alike."
Congratulations, Dr Craig. Your work is going to have an impact on so many lives and we can't wait to see what you do next.

Who knew a @Bristol_Maid catheter stand could be so versatile? 🌟 Last night in a wee bar in Donegal, I spotted this stand behind the bar being used for displaying crisps & nuts 🤣 I laughed so hard and no one could understand what randomly made me laugh out loud! The plot thickens - The owner informed he found it in a skip when clearing out the bar last year 🤷♂️
@KPSnacks & @walkers_crisps new display ideas💡

What a picture from above Belfast City Hall. Showing anti-immigration protesters (on left) vastly outnumbered by counter protesters. Don’t know who took picture to credit it (if anyone knows) but this is an epic, fabulous image of love, solidarity and hope. Love always wins ❤️
The Western Trust has expressed its deep concern over the recent violence against ethnic minorities across NI & the UK. Chief Executive, Neil Guckian (OBE) has emphasised our steadfast commitment to the principles of equality, compassion & respect for all

. @covidinquiryuk the @COPNI has told the inquiry that it was “reckless” to discharge older people from hospital into care homes without testing at start of the pandemic. He said a meeting with DOH on March 16 officials were unable to address many issues regarding care homes.
. @covidinquiryuk hears that due to how NI records data it’s still unclear how many older people died with covid-19. Counsel for @COPNI says impt data is inaccurate here which affects future planning. Also revealed by Feb 21 983 deaths in care homes.
