The compelling case for its importance starts with control of the physical stack. Today’s AI supply chain is fragmented across TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix, and ASML, with advanced nodes and high-bandwidth memory concentrated in a few places. Vertical integration collapses that latency: make a chip, test it, revise the mask, and iterate without shipping wafers between sites. That recursive loop is what lets you optimize specifically for inference—low power, low latency, on-device decision loops—rather than general-purpose training silicon.
#Inference is where AI actually meets the physical world. Training happens once; inference runs continuously in cars, robots, drones, and satellites. Whoever owns cheap, abundant, purpose-built inference silicon owns the ability to deploy intelligence at the edge at planetary scale. Terafab’s space chips are the extreme version of that: solar-powered compute in orbit, free of terrestrial power and land constraints.
On replacing military and nuclear weapons, the strongest argument is that AI-enabled systems can achieve the same strategic effect—deterrence, precision, and dominance—without the existential downside. Nuclear weapons guarantee mutual destruction. AI systems can find, track, and neutralize threats in real time: autonomous swarms that make massed armor obsolete, orbital sensors that render stealth irrelevant, cyber and electronic warfare that disables command networks before a shot is fired. The side with superior inference can out-decide, out-produce, and out-maneuver any conventional or nuclear force. In that sense, the technology doesn’t just supplement weapons—it makes the old logic of nuclear standoff less relevant, because the decisive advantage shifts to whoever can think and act faster across the entire battlespace.
That’s the core of the argument: vertical integration of inference silicon is how you seize that advantage permanently.
