At 11:30 AM today, Skyroot Aerospace will undertake the maiden orbital launch of Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed launch vehicle.

This four-stage rocket is designed to provide rapid and on-demand launch services. This mission highlights the talent, determination and entrepreneurial spirit of our youth. It also shows how our space-sector reforms are unlocking new opportunities for innovation and enterprise.

Scientists successfully transmitted electricity through air using ultrasonic sound waves and laser beams.

Finland is positioning itself at the forefront of a wireless energy revolution, with researchers from the University of Helsinki and the University of Oulu pioneering methods to move electricity without physical cables.

One of the most striking developments involves using high-intensity ultrasonic sound waves to create invisible pathways through the air, effectively guiding electrical sparks along a controlled route.

While currently in the experimental phase, this 'acoustic wire' technology could eventually enable contactless electrical connections and smart interfaces that function entirely without plugs or traditional wiring.

Beyond sound-guided energy, Finnish innovation is also leveraging light and radio frequencies to solve complex power challenges. The private sector is developing 'power-by-light' systems that utilize high-powered lasers to transmit electricity to remote receivers, providing critical galvanic isolation for hazardous environments like nuclear plants and high-voltage stations. Simultaneously, advancements in radio-frequency harvesting are turning ambient waves into 'Wi-Fi for power,' potentially eliminating the need for millions of disposable batteries in low-power IoT sensors. Together, these technologies signal a shift toward a more flexible, cable-free infrastructure for global industry.

अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप की तरफ से लगातार टैरिफ बढ़ाने की धमकियों के बीच भी देश की कुछ बड़ी तेल कंपनियां रूस से क्रूड ऑयल की खरीद बढ़ा रही हैं. जनवरी 2026 के पहले 15 दिन में ही भारत ने रूस से एवरेज 11.8 लाख बैरल रोजना तेल का आयात क‍िया. यह पिछले साल के मुकाबले 30% कम है. फिर भी, कुछ कंपनियां इस मौके का फायदा उठा रही हैं क्योंकि रूस से म‍िलना वाला तेल इस समय पहले से ज्यादा सस्ता मिल रहा है. सरकारी तेल कंपनी इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन (IOC) ने जनवरी में रूस से सबसे ज्यादा तेल खरीदा है. कंपनी का आयात करीब 5 लाख बैरल पर पहुंच गया, यह पूरे आयात का 43% है. यह इंड‍ियन ऑयल (IOC) की मई 2024 के बाद सबसे बड़ा मंथली खरीद है और 2025 के औसत से 64% ज्यादा. दूसरी तरफ, नायरा एनर्जी ने 4.71 लाख बैरल रोजाना की खरीद की. यह पिछले दो साल के दौरान उसकी सबसे बड़ा खरीद है और 2025 के एवरेज से 56% ज्यादा. भारत पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड (BPCL) ने भी रोजाना 2 लाख बैरल तेल की खरीद की, जो क‍ि 2025 के एवरेज से कुछ ज्‍यादा है.

रिलायंस इंडस्ट्रीज ने पिछले साल रूस से सबसे ज्यादा तेल खरीदा था. लेक‍िन कंपनी ने इस महीने एक भी बैरल तेल की खरीद नहीं की. ह‍िन्‍दुस्‍तान पेट्रोल‍ियम (HPCL), मित्तल एनर्जी और मंगलौर रिफाइनरी जैसी दूसरी कंपनियों ने भी इस महीने रूसी तेल से दूरी बनाई. अमेरिकी बैन के कारण रूसी तेल के खरीदारों में ग‍िरावट आई है. अब केवल IOC, नायरा और BPCL ही मुख्य खरीदार बचे हैं. इंटरनेशनल बैन और भारत-चीन जैसे खरीदारों की ड‍िमांड कम होने से रूसी तेल कंपनियां छूट बढ़ा रही हैं. रूसी Urals क्रूड अब भारत के पोर्ट्स पर 5-6 डॉलर प्रति बैरल की छूट पर मिल रहा है. अक्टूबर 2025 में रोसनेफ्ट और लुकोइल पर अमेरिकी बैन से पहले यह छूट महज दो डॉलर की थी. इंड‍ियन ऑयल (IOC) ने सस्‍ते दाम का फायदा उठाकर जनवरी में अपनी खरीद को बढ़ाया है. ट्रंप ने भारतीय आयात पर पहले ही 50 प्रत‍िशत का टैर‍िफ लगा रखा है. लेक‍िन अब ट्रंप प्रशासन ने रूस से तेल खरीदने वाले देशों पर मौजूदा से ज्‍यादा टैरिफ लगाने की बात कही है. लेकिन भारत की तरफ से एनर्जी सिक्योरिटी और सस्ते तेल की जरूरत को प्र‍ियोर‍िटी दी जा रही है. कुल मिलाकर, जनवरी में रूसी से होने वाला तेल आयात दिसंबर 2025 के मुकाबले 3% कम है. लेकिन कुछ कंपनियां सस्ते दाम का फायदा उठाकर अपनी रिफाइनरी चलाने में ब‍िजी हैं. इससे साफ है क‍ि ग्‍लोबल प्रेशर को दरक‍िनार कर भारत अपनी आर्थ‍िक जरूरतों के ह‍िसाब से फैसले ले रहा है.

बता दें कि फरीदाबाद से एक ऐसा विस्फोटक बरामद हुआ है जिसे आतंकी कोड वर्ड में ‘सफेद पाउडर’ कहा जाता है। शुरुआती जांच में सामने आया है कि यह पदार्थ अमोनियम नाइट्रेट जैसा दिखता है, जो सफेद रंग का होता है और विस्फोटक सामग्री में इस्तेमाल किया जाता है।
