@KodaguConnect All three states Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra were against Kasturirangan committee recommendations to protect the Western Ghats. Biggest was from Kerala. Will they learn the lessons now? #KeralaFloods#Keralarains#Westernghats
@TNGeography otherwise said, Cauvery does not reach her natural home via her branches. It does only via Kollidam. Even in these massive floods, the branches carry only the normal quantum and vanish by the time they near the tail end. Hmm
@TNGeography Yesterday I saw the full scale abuse of Cauvery in Srirangam. Kollidam banks was full of seem Karuvelam (prosopis) or plain dry and garbage. Not long ago we had Marudam (arjuna) and bamboo lining the banks. Even today we can spot in Thiruvidaimarudur.
@TNGeography Even when Cauvery has 2 Lkh ccs flow below Mettur, main 5 rivers below Grand Anaicut like Cauvery, Vennar, Kudamurutti and Vettar, will carry only 20K and rest in Kollidam on to sea. Why?? I saw it in 2018. Letting more water flow will recharge the ground water deep into delta.
@sacsubr@kalyanasundarsv Another thing I have observed in peak of 2018 flood discharge is: Most water will go via Kollidam. Cauvery and its branches will carry normal water only. At least in this time likes of Vennar, Kudamurutti can carry more water without flooding.
