@GeneAWitt@cwebbonline Higher education is simply a tool to build skills and critical thinking. Blaming a degree for someone’s lack of common sense is like blaming a hammer when you hit your thumb. I'm sorry you feel that way.
Late 1800s, two people, one woman named Selma who walked to school in the snow with hot baked potatoes in her pocket to keep her hands warm on the 5 mile hike, then she ate them at lunch. After school she hiked 5 miles back, only to tend the farm with her father, brothers and sisters, while her mother cooked a big meal for dinner.
The other was a guy who lived on the Oklahoma plains, and he said as young as 3 years old he guided the horse so he could make a path for his family to bend over and plant the seeds after the soil was prepared better. He cried, because his 3 year old great grandson was there visiting as I took care of the man. He looked at me and motioned to the little boy, tears running down his cheeks, he said I wanted to be playing with the dogs like this little guy likes to do. I wish I had had a childhood too...
@xuzin3sefh He won't make it that long. My guide Thanes says he will be brought up on charges soon. He is loosing support everywhere. ~Dr. Shirley Ryan
HIS SOUL IS HERE TO LEARN JUST LIKE YOURS IS, DON'T MAKE IT HARDER ON HIM...I don't know why, this reminds me of the Viet Nam War when I was a Red Cross volunteer in the ward of returning vets. The man lay naked but for a diaper, and he had no arms and legs. I wanted to give him a magazine, and without looking at me the male nurse said he was blind. He was a very nice looking man with blond hair and sky blue eyes, not another mark on him. I just sat and watched him, and thought I'd speak to him, but something in the nurses eyes, said not to bother.
To this day I wished I would have spoken to him, soothed him, told him he was safe now, and still handsome as ever. My bad, but then, I was only 22 years old. Today I would have had a long conversation with him and told him what good things were going on in the world, that he mattered, that he was still an eternally beautiful soul that I would be honored to talk to again. I think this infant needs the same support, and I would hope someone would give it to him.
@GeneAWitt@cwebbonline Education is about learning how to think, not just what to think. A degree doesn't guarantee common sense, but dismissing higher learning entirely usually guarantees ignorance.
Ridiculous, women just outlived the usefulness of being married, especially when they discovered that they could have sex without it. Between education, career and professions, women found that they had to work to support their family, even if there was a man in it. So might as well have a career. They also found that they didn't have to follow the long chain of dedication to sacrificing everything for family, childbirth, homemaking, etc. Now, do I think it is worth it to be in a loving relationship? Yes, with the right partner, but it is unnecessary to float the family unit, the communities of our world.
I read the speculations of Aldous Huxley, and Plato's Republic too, but remember these were written a long time and were not predictions, but speculations of a theory without firm evidence.
Actually they might have been forming a conjecture filled with fearful thinking. Remember that during WWII women took the place of men in factories to create bombers, bullets, and other weapons, so men could fight, then they went to war too, to be nurses to care for and heal the wounded. So, this coming of age of the women of the world started a long time ago. Once they joined to WWII work group, some never went back to the housekeepers role, they actually folded it into their everyday work process, holding down the house, while bringing in an income!!
@ntsbfh@cwebbonline He spoke of his family not being on board with his plan, but his meaning of "family" his family of origin, parents, etc. No where did he say wife and kids.
I'm not outdated, I spoke of this on FB, but I try not to get into the details of politics on this space. I've followed every minute since he stood on the steps, listened to every word, read comments, etc. What I noticed was that Rep Al Green booked before the police came. Likely the police didn't recognize his stature as a Representative of Texas.
@Davidm000@Roger758 Going to war without the consent of congress is against the constitution--the president can't just decide to go to war with other nations, there has to be agreement with a vote in congress. Go back to 8th grade civics class sir.
