In a big boost for the country’s Upstream Sector, rationalization of royalty under the ORD Act marks a new era for our Oil & Gas regimes by eliminating inconsistencies and driving growth in the upstream sector under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji.
This landmark decision will be a major step toward regulatory clarity. Following the historic 2025 amendments to the ORD Act & PNG Rules, the Government has rationalized royalty rates & methodologies for Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and Casing Head Condensate. The revised Schedule removes long-standing inconsistencies across regimes to ensure a stable, predictable, and investor-aligned framework for India’s upstream sector.
This decision is a culmination of a decade-long effort to modernize our regulatory landscape by replacing complexity with consistency to fuel India's energy future.

A new chapter in India’s energy journey begins.
With OALP Round-XI now live, we unlock vast frontiers beneath our land and seas—powering growth, resilience, and self-reliance.
Round-X (~25 blocks; ~182,589 sq km) and Round-XI (~80,228 sq km) are now on offer - together unlocking ~262,817 sq km for exploration.
This is a decisive step aligned with the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh @narendramodi Ji under #SamudraManthan: fast-tracking bidding, expanding acreage, and strengthening India’s energy security.
The quest to discover India’s hidden energy wealth continues. 🇮🇳

My piece on how PM Sh @narendramodi Ji’s inspirational professionalism and impeccable work ethic are making the difference on the ground, and the way his discipline, that turns vision into durable systems, sets the PM apart.
The meticulous homework he does and how he goes through every paper and file before a meeting is what he expects of the system.
Behind these choices lies a distinctive working style. Discussions are civil but unsparing; competing views are welcomed, drift is not. After hearing the room, he reduces a thick dossier to the essential alternatives, assigns responsibility and names the metric that will decide success.
The best argument, not the loudest, prevails; preparation is rewarded; follow-up is relentless.

An ocean of energy opportunities opens up in the Andaman Sea!
Very happy to report the occurrence of natural gas in Sri Vijayapuram 2 well at a distance of 9.20 NM (17 km) from the shoreline on the east coast of the Andaman Islands at a water depth of 295 meters and target depth of 2650 meters.
Initial production testing of the well in the range of 2212 – 2250 meters has established the presence of natural gas with intermittent flaring. The gas samples were brought by ship to Kakinada, were tested and found to be 87% methane.
The size of the gas pool and commercial viability of the discovery will get verified in the coming months but establishing the presence of hydrocarbons in the Andaman basin is a major step in confirming our long held belief that Andaman basin is rich in natural gas, in line with discoveries in the entire area from Myanmar in North to Indonesia in the south in this belt.
Under the deepwater mission announced by Hon’ble PM @narendramodi Ji on Independence Day, large number of deepwater exploration wells are planned in our offshore basins in order to find new discoveries and fully exploit our hydrocarbon reserves.
This occurrence of natural gas will help us in taking forward our exploration ambitions in coordination with global deepwater exploration experts like @petrobras@bp_india@Shell@exxonmobil and will be a significant milestone in our journey through Amrit Kaal!

Held an excellent interaction in a fireside chat on ‘Powering India’s Green Future with Hydrogen’ at World Hydrogen India, an inaugural conference on building India’s hydrogen economy under the farsighted and decisive leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji.
With the National Green Hydrogen Mission, under which we aim to produce 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, supported by strong policy frameworks and significant financial outlays India is among the fastest-moving nations in the global hydrogen landscape.
S&P Global Commodity Insights projects that by 2050, global hydrogen demand will grow at 3.5% annually, reaching 220 MMT per year, with 60% supplied by low-carbon sources.
India will play a key role in the hydrogen landscape. Our oil & gas PSUs have collectively announced plans to set up ~1 MT per annum of green hydrogen capacity by 2030. Our energy sector PSUs have already joined the hydrogen quest by floating tenders for 170KTPA capacity under ‘Build Own Operate’ model.
India has awarded 19 companies ~900,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green hydrogen production capacity under its National Green Hydrogen Mission.
India is emerging as a cost champion of the hydrogen economy which is a strong signal for investors betting on India’s energy future. Green Hydrogen costs here are already <$4/kg—@IndianOilcl, @HPCL & @BPCLimited bids at ~$3.7–3.8/kg (excluding GST).
India will ensure that hydrogen is not just a fuel of the future but a pillar of energy security, economic competitiveness, and environmental stewardship.

In the first of its kind #UrjaVarta2025 at Bharat Mandapam, ministers and officials of several states, UTs & @PetroleumMin had discussed how oil & natural gas plays an important role in the economy of the states. Since the sector contributes about 16% to the state’s exchequer, the states which have tapped their energy resources and have streamlined their energy policies are witnessing greater prosperity.
Investments in the energy infrastructure and policy measures by states haven’t just built national capacity - they’ve created real, measurable value at the state level apart from creating direct & indirect employment & entrepreneurial opportunities for the youth.
Reforms and measures announced by the centre under the leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji are inspiring states and UTs to follow suit.
I thank Assam CM Sh @himantabiswa Ji for notification of exemption of hydrocarbons exploration and production activities from the purview of "The Assam Regulation of Reclassification and Reclassification cum Transfer of Lands Act, 2015" subject to the payment of the applicable premium. Companies have been permitted to purchase or lease the required land directly from landowners through negotiated settlement, as per prevailing market rates and applicable guidelines.
