In the Balin’s Tomb sequence in The Fellowship of the Ring, the double-bladed axe Gimli would later wield throughout the trilogy is already visible among the dwarven weapons and debris.

After shattering an axe at the Council of Elrond, Gimli finds this one during the battle in Moria, grabbing it from the tomb floor as the Fellowship fights for their lives. It becomes his signature weapon for the rest of the trilogy.
