My mum fell off her bike and broke her shoulder this week. She works as a support worker for disabled adults and her work doesn’t offer any sick pay. She won’t be able to work for weeks. SSP is £115 a week. She can’t pay her rent!! Do you know of any hardship funds for carers?
I’ve done about 100,000 kickflips in my life.
Here’s the breakdown on how this could be close to accurate.
Year 1:
- Started skating at 9 years old.
- First kickflip 6 months later.
- Average 2 a day for 6 more months.
Year 1 total = 361 kickflips
Year 2:
- Getting more consistent and averaging 10 a day. (I basically didn’t want to do any other trick after I learned them)
- Exclude non-skate days (rainy days, sick, hurt, etc.) = 50
- Total skate days 315 x 10 kickflips a day
Year 2 total = 3,150 kickflips
Year 3 & 4:
- Learning new tricks, skating rails, stairs, flat ground, but still always doing kickflips in the middle of learning.
- 20 kickflips a day
- 100 non-skate days
- 630 total skate days
Year 3 & 4 total = 12,600 kickflips
Year 5 & 6:
- Broke my wrist on a handrail and refused to skate any type of rail again.
- This sent me on a path of obsessively trying to learn as many flat ground tricks as possible.
- 30 kickflips a day
- One day decided to see how many kickflips I could do in a row and did 200 without missing one, got tired and stopped. Then did 5 more for fun.
Year 5-6 total = 18,900 kickflips
Year 7 - 10:
- This is when I got sponsored by @GirlSkateboards and dropped out of school. Literally skated 8+ hours a day after this point.
- Didn’t get hurt at this age, and even if it rained, I would still go skate in a parking garage somewhere.
- 340 skateable days per year
- 30+ kickflips a day
Year 7-10 total = 40,800 kickflips
10 year total = 75,811 kickflips
Year 11:
- Rolled my left ankle (flick foot) really bad, wasn’t able to Kickflip for 3 months.
- Rolled in again and took me out for another 3 months.
- Slowly healed up and did a few a day.
- Hard to guess but maybe 5x a day for 6 months.
Year 11 Total = 900
Year 12-15 (20-23 years old):
- Battled some minor injuries on and off but always skated through them.
- skateable days = 275 per year
- 20 kickflips per day
Year 12-15 total = 22,000 kickflips
15 Year Total = 98,711 kickflips
Year 16 (24 years old)
- Career ending injury August 2014
- Up until the injury, I felt the best I ever felt on my board. Skated all day every day, similar to how I was when I was a kid.
- 20+ kickflips a day
- 230 skateable days
Year 16 total = 4,600 kickflips
Total Overall Kickflips = 103,311.
Heard the plot of ‘cocaine bear’ described very loudly by a drunk bloke in a north London snooker hall last night. All his mates calling him a liar and telling him to be quiet
@paulbosvelt Went to prague a few months back expecting it to be full of gammon on tour and was shocked how beautiful (And cheap) it was. Would deffo recommend
