I have been removed from the Maldives national handball team, not because of my performance, but for other reasons — a fact many coaches have now confirmed. I am 20 years old. I have already made Maldives proud. I was the first Maldivian handball player to train overseas, completing 2.5 months of intensive training in Malaysia with one of the best handball players in this region. I've been honoured with Maldives Sports Award 2024, selected among the Best 7 and part of Champions of the Year-winning teams.

During my training period, I shared full attendance and achievement records directly with the President of Maldives Handball Association. My commitment was transparent and fully documented.

Instead of recognition, I was suddenly asked at short notice — upon my immediate return, before I could even fully unpack — to attend a test under circumstances that made it extremely difficult to participate. I clearly informed the Association that I could not immediately take part. At no point was I told this would be used as a deciding factor for my place in the national team or as a reason for removal.

Afterwards, I began hearing conflicting narratives. Some coaches said it was about the test, while others admitted it was for entirely different reasons. These contradictions make it clear that the decision was not about my ability or dedication, but a situation deliberately manufactured against me.

This is deeply saddening. I love my country and carry the flag with pride. I felt the need to issue this statement to show the country how ambitious youth are being held back by corruption, nepotism and abuse of power from those in positions. No obstacle will break my determination to advance Maldivian handball.
