Today’s acquittal of six Palestine Action activists is a huge win against attempts to criminalise protest and resistance to genocide.
After 500+ days in custody, the Filton jury returned not guilty verdicts on aggravated burglary for all, and no convictions on any other counts.
Elbit Systems arms Israel’s genocide in Gaza and this Labour government enables it.
Solidarity with all who took a stand, and all facing repression for speaking up for Palestine.
We will not stop! 🇵🇸✊🏽
@RupertLowe10 You mean a full ban on unstunned slaughter don't you Rupert? Given majority of Halal slaughter in UK is stunned I wouldn't want you giving people the impression that this is just about you attacking Muslims
This fucking cunt has dedicated his entire worthless life to tormenting trans women under the lie that it's to "protect" other women, but if it's men shooting women in the head he's fine with it. Putrid sack of shit
The images of body bags leave no doubt about the brutality of Iran’s repression, and a communications blackout is indefensible.
Across the country, Iranians are protesting real economic hardship, much of it deepened by US sanctions. From the UK, genuine solidarity means opposing those sanctions and the imperial strategies and aspirations behind them.
At the same time, this unrest is being cynically exploited by Netanyahu’s genocidal government as a pretext for military intervention and regime change — a path that must be firmly rejected.
It must be clear: only the Iranian people have the right to decide their own future. No outside power should dictate or interfere.
Any serious politics requires holding all of these truths together.
Mark Ruffalo on Donald Trump: “The guy is a convicted felon, a convicted rapist, he’s a pedophile. He’s the worst human being in the world. If we’re relying on this guy’s morality then we’re all in a lot of trouble. I love this country and what I’m seeing here is not America”
Ending Israeli Apartheid will be a rehumanising act -and a liberation- for both Palestinians and Israelis.
No one can treat other humans as the Israeli society treats the Palestinians, and not lose their humanity in the process.
J.K. Rowling is posting about Iranian women, yet has been silent for more than two years about Palestinian women & children, subjected to mass killing, displacement, & siege.
Selective feminism is not feminism. It is moral sorting.
When you can speak passionately about the oppression of women in Iran but remain silent for years about Palestinian women & girls enduring mass killing, displacement, & siege, you are not defending universal human rights; you are choosing which victims count & curating outrage accordingly.
This is not solidarity. It is conditional concern, applied only when it carries no cost & aligns with approved narratives.
Hey @jk_rowling just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your books about the magical lad with round glasses living under his uncles staircase. Lovely stuff pal.
Just a quick one, do the women and children of Palestine not come under your jurisdiction of care or concern?
I am appalled by the killing of protesters across Iran in recent days. The Iranian people have the right to demonstrate peacefully and have their voices heard, without fear of violent repression at home or intervention from abroad.
The people of Iran, and only the people of Iran, must determine their own future. The US president’s latest threats of military intervention against Iran – following last year’s attacks by the US and Israel, on top of years of crushing sanctions – can only heighten the risk of bloodshed and a wider regional war.
The experience of repeated regime-change interventions by the US and its allies have shown that they do not deliver freedom or democracy - but instead lead to more war, repression and social breakdown.
Just as we condemn the use of violence against peaceful protesters by Iranian authorities, we must also oppose interference by external powers that escalate the violence and deny the Iranian people’s right to self-determination.
I support the human rights of everyone, everywhere – and will continue to campaign for a world of peace and freedom for all.
Police being forced to read out the ethnicity and the place of birth of attackers because they’re bending over backwards to placate racists, is fucked up.
White British? The mob ignore it.
Anything else? Time to incite.
It’s the hypernormalisation of the far right.
