The fact that Centennial Park Housing subdivision had a covenant for no shops or pubs , the beginning of suburbia , created this lack of diversity. Sad

Older more affordable blocks with little or no parking being redeveloped into few huge upmarket dwellings.
Uplift won’t solve this, zoning needs reform to stop net drop on dwelling nos

If councils committed to Green Verges and Street Tree canopy, this would make a huge difference.

Those pictures of Paddington in 1945 with no trees tell a very bleak story .

The urgency here is to introduce deep soil & canopy requirements into ALL types of housing, from outer suburbs to inner city. 20-30% of site area minimum.
Planning Fail; isn’t landscape & tree canopy at least as important as their narrow obsession with zoning/FSR/Height?
