@EwaZwonarz I agree with you. This approach is just neo-McCarthyism used to rally conservatives against liberals without any debate on real issues. Communism is an economic system that could exist in a democracy, but because it is usually established by a coup, it usually leads to fascism.
@melmoel1@Kasparov63 Even if they were receiving everything they need to push Russia back out of Ukraine (and I believe that they are not), we would still be hearing this message. It's an essential part of the information war to keep grass roots pressure on western governments to send what is needed.
@RomanKalisz1@Kasparov63 I don't think the US has given up on Ukraine, but unfortunately I think providing weapons slowly serves the US agenda to exhaust Russian weapon supplies. If the war were won quickly, supplies wouldn't be completely depleted. US should think of Ukrainian people over its agenda.
@Zilvinger@1901James@hlib I will watch that documentary, thanks. To say that the US exerts outside influence where there is instability is certainly expected. To say it was a US sponsored coup and the protesters were just puppets feels very overstated. Much like another film:

@benrains@Kasparov63 Not to mention, there may be many logistical issues getting the weapons from Western Ukraine to the front that front-line troops feel like they are not receiving what was promised quickly enough.
@RetiefPeter @YMarchinsky @Kasparov63 I believe that diplomacy is the best solution in most cases; however, it is impossible to negotiate with a government that does not honor its agreements (for example the Budapest Memorandum) and who will accept nothing short of completely controlling the other side.
@Zilvinger@1901James@hlib The USA didn't stage the Maidan coup (which was of course *not* a coup), though it did show support for protesters. It was a grass-root Ukrainian protest pushing for Yanukovych to either follow through with the democratic majority's goal to join the EU, or resign.
@Zilvinger@1901James@hlib Russia doesn't respect the Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances which prohibits Russian, the UK, and the US from threatening or using military force against Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine giving up the nuclear weapons that would have prevented this Russian invasion.
@Aleksan83962119@little_one63@lilygrutcher @mog7546 I agree with you and support sending any weapons to Ukraine needed to win the war as quickly as possible. I think escalation by the West is required to deter Russia. Related issues (such as Ukrainian grain) should provide additional reasons for the West to respond with strength.
@Aleksan83962119@little_one63@lilygrutcher @mog7546 It is not just the grain needed by starving people in the world, but also the blocked ports, preventing Ukraine from trading with the world and receiving revenue that could help in the war against Russia, and on the humanitarian support of their people.
@pravda_eng The primary reason for not considering a no-fly zone is that it would require preemptive attacks inside Russia to protect NATO planes. How can Ukraine protect themselves if they never strike across the border?
@AngelA79soto@pithywidow I don't disagree with you that the comparison is not good, but I do understand the point that our government is willing to legislate regulations for automobile safety, but they are not willing to legislate gun regulations to keep our children safe.
@crikkett001@AngelA79soto@pithywidow Although I agree with you that a criminal will get a gun regardless, most of the school shooting perps bought guns legally, and perhaps it wouldn't have happened if they could not.
@cryptodrftng I deeply apologize, as an American who has been screaming for my government to do more to stop the genocide, more than donate money to defeat the Russians. US Memorial day is 05/30. This year I will be remembering the brave Ukrainians who died to preserve freedom for all of us.
@KSergatskova Embarrassing to admit, but I completely abstained from news during the last presidency to prevent hypertension-induced heart attacks. I did however watch the Euromaidan documentary and I already knew how screwed the Russians would be in Ukraine.
@shaunwalker7 No doubt he should be seriously punished for murdering a civilian. My concern is that a life sentence for a low level soldier committing one act of murder leaves no higher punishment for others above him. At the same time, it is not unreasonable for premeditated murder.
